Vivek Agnihotri Disappointed With Cannes Film Festival: Known for not mincing his words, Vivek Agnihotri once again shared his disappointment with fashion taking over films at this year's Cannes Film Festival.

VIVEK AGNIHOTRI SHARES HIS DISAPPOINTMENT OVER 'DEATH OF THE CANNES FILM FESTIVAL'

Calling it the death of Cannes, the filmmaker pointed out that the ones making heads turn on the prestigious red carpet of the international film festival were not even actors or in any way related to films.

Vivek Agnihotri took to Twitter and shared a screenshot of a newspaper clip featuring celebs who graced the red carpet of the festival. He tweeted, "So sad to see the death of Cannes Film Festival. Most of these are not even actors or have any film showing at Cannes. Films are replaced with fashion. Actors with SM influencers. Film Journalism with... you know what... And FILMMAKERS... who cares about them? Om Shanti!"

WHEN VIVEK AGNIHOTRI REMINDED PEOPLE THAT CANNES WAS ABOUT FILMS

Earlier, the filmmaker in a tweet reminded people that Cannes Film Festival was about films.

Taking to his microblogging site, he wrote, "Do you know that Cannes Film Festival is about films? I thought I should remind you just in case you were thinking it's a fashion show."

Sharing a picture of Aishwarya Rai posing on the red carpet in a silver statement gown, he even slammed the use of assistansts calling them "costume slaves". He wrote, "Have you guys heard of a term called 'Costume Slaves'. They are mostly girls (a suited man in this case). You can see them now in India too with almost every female celeb. Why are we becoming so stupid and oppressive just for such uncomfortable fashion?"

NANDITA DAS ON CANNES FILM FESTIVAL TURNING INTO A FASHION EVENT

Well, Vivek Agnihotri is not the only one who has spoken about Cannes now mostly being about fashion. Earlier, Nandita Das shared several throwback pictures from her visit to Cannes and wrote, "Sadly missing Cannes this year. Sometimes people seem to forget that it is a festival of films and not of clothes! Considering I can't show you the amazing films I watched or the conversations I have had or take you back in time when Manto premiered there."
