Hina Khan Cannes Red Carpet Walk Mocked: Hina Khan made a splashing debut on the Red Carpet of Cannes in 2019. The 'Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai' star attended the festival to promote her then-short film "Lines," which was screened at the festival.
She made several ravishing red carpet-appearances during the festival in various ensembles from the shelves of Indian and international designers. All quarters lauded her fashion statement, and Hina was considered one of the best-dressed Indian celebrities at the festival that year.
Hina Khan Cannes debut marked a significant milestone in her career and her red-carpet debut also received rave reviews. She graced the French film festival's red carpet with poise.
However, her appearance was mocked by a magazine leading magazine editor. Jitesh Pillai, editor of Filmfare magazine, too to Instagram and shared a picture of the actress in his Insta story and wrote: "Cannes has suddenly become chandivali studios kya?"
His comment was slammed by several television actors as well Bollywood superstar Salman Khan.
Salman Khan took a brutal dig at the editor during the launch of Zinda from Bharat. When asked about Pillai's comment on Hina Khan, Salman said, "This is very responsible of the editor to make a comment like that, so thoughtful," and added, "I don't understand - what did he want to say? Cannes is Chandivali or Chandivali is going to Cannes?"
Hina, too, had reacted to the comment and said, "I was persistent, I m constant n I will b efficient again n again. Don't know where I belong, don't know if I have to, as d Place don't define me! Bcause as always I will work my a** off n I will make my own PLACE. My promise,a proud outsider from my Chandiwali studios."
However, soon after the brouhaha, Pillai apologised to Hina Khan, stating that his comment was misconstrued.
