Chrisann Pereira Is SET FREE: Actress Held In Drug Case Released In UAE; Brother Shares Heart-Wrenching Video

Chrisann Pereira Drug Case: Bollywood actress who has featured in movies including Sadak 2 and Batla House who was arrested by the UAE authorities in connection with a drug-smuggling case, has been released.

The 27-year-old Chrisann Pereira was taken into custody earlier this month in Sharjah by authorities after drugs were found hidden in a trophy she was carrying. The officials informed me that Pereira was released yesterday.

The actress's brother Kevin Pereira took to Instagram and shared a video where she was on a video call after being released from jail. The video showed Chrisann's mother jumping with joy while talking to her daughter on the video call.

Sharing the video, Kevin wrote, "Chrisann is SET FREE!!! She will be in India in the next 48 hours."

The Bollywood actress Chrisann Pereira was arrested on April 1 at the Sharjah airport. Her family issued a statement and claimed that Chrisann was being framed. Thereafter, the Mumbai crime branch started investigating and found out that the actor was allegedly framed by a bakery owner Paul, in revenge against the actress's mother Premila Pereira.

Paul along with his accomplice Ravi, framed Chrisann by plotting a purported audition for an international web series. Chrisann was handed a trophy by Ravi before going to the airport, where the drugs were hidden.

The police arrested the mastermind, a bakery owner named Anthony Paul, and his associate Rajesh Babhote who played Ravi. They have been sent to police custody till May 2. Apart from Chrisann, the two even framed four others into becoming drug mules.

The crime branch in a statement said, "We will interrogate Paul to know from whom he procured the drugs and ascertain if he is into drug peddling. Paul was the business partner of Premila, Chrisann's mother. We will also probe if there were any business-related issues between them."
