Contempt Case 2018: Vivek Agnihotri To Appear Before Delhi HC Today For Hearing On Remarks Against S Murlidhar

New Delhi: Filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri will appear before the Delhi High Court today for a hearing of a criminal contempt case against him. In the incident which dates back to 2018, the Kashmir Files director had alleged bias by Justice S Muralidhar. Earlier he had expressed unconditional apology for his tweets against the former High Court judge.
CASE AGAINST FILMMAKER
Earlier, the Delhi High Court had directed The Kashmir Files director to appear in person on April 10. The division bench comprising of justices Sidharth Mridul and Talwant Singh who were listening to the petition against the director.
In August 2018, Agnihotri allegedly made allegations of bias in a tweet against Justice Muralidhar, former judge of the High Court and present Chief Justice Of Odissa after he set aside the transit remand and ordered the release of Navlakha from house arrest.
Navlaka was detained by the Pune Police from Delhi in the Bhima Koregaon case. He was given a transit remand in order to take him to Maharashtra to put him under house arrest.
VIVEK AGNIHOTRI TENDERS UNCONDITIONAL APOLOGY
On December 6, the filmmaker had tendered an unconditional apology, when he was directed to appear before the court. The apology was in response to the contempt case that was initiated by the Delhi High Court in 2018 against Agnihotri and former Reserve Bank of India Director S Gurumurthy. S Gurumurthy had also made similar allegations.
It was reported to the court that Agnihotri is down with a fever and thus unable to appear before the court. Following this he was directed to appear physically on the next date of hearing, that's today April 10.
