Veteran Lyricist Dev Kohli Death: It's a sad morning for Bollywood, as veteran lyricist Dev Kohli passed away on Saturday, August 26. He was 80.
He has penned lyrics for over hundreds of songs for the Hindi film industry, including Baazigar, Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!, and Maine Pyaar Kiya to name a few.

Lyricist Dev Kohli's funeral will take place from 2 pm onwards at his Jupiter Apartment in Mumbai. According to a report by India TV, the deceased lyricist's last rites will be performed at Oshiwara Crematorium, Jogeshwari West, by 6 pm.

Dev Kohli was born in the Sikh family in Rawalpindi, Pakistan, in 1942 in British India. After the India-Pak partition, his family moved to Dehradun. He studied at Shri Giri Nanak Dev Guru Maharaj College.
He moved to Mumbai and began his career in 1969 with the film Gunda. His first breakthrough came with "Geet Gaata Hoon Main" in the 1971 film Laal Patthar. He went on to write many songs in the 1970s and 1980s, but they went unnoticed.
But success touched his feet with Maine Pyaar Kiya's (1989) evergreen songs like Aate Jaate Hanste Gaate, Kabootar Ja Ja Ja, Aaja Shaam Hone Aayee, Maine Pyar Kiya, and Kahe Toh Se Sajna. In the 90s he collaborated with Anu Malik on blockbuster songs like "Yeh Kaali Kaali Aankhen" in Baazigar (1993), "Dekho Dekho Jaanam Hum" in Ishq (1997), and so on.
The veteran lyricist has also worked with composers including Ram Laxman, Anand Milind, and Anand Raj Anand.
