Ent Highlights: Abhishek Bachchan's Ghoomer, AP Dhillon Docuseries Releases Today, Gadar 2 BO Collection

Gadar 2 starring Sunny Deol, Ameesha Patel and Utkarsh Sharma in the lead was released in theatres on August 11. Now, during an interview with ETimes, the actress answered what she would wish was done differently with the film. She said, "Nothing really but I wish I was the editor. I would have edited and re-edited few things and made it maybe crisper."

Anu Menon's directorial venture Neeyat has now arrived on Prime Video. This suspense-thriller stars an ensemble cast including Vidya Balan, Ram Kapoor, Rahul Bose, Prajakta Koli, Neeraj Kabi, among others. The film's OTT release follows its theatrical debut by two months. While the film is not accessible to all subscribers, it can be rented for Rs. 349.

OMG 2 which hit the theaters on August 11 is one of the awaited releases of this year. Amid the film's phenomenal box office collection, Akshay Kumar who essays a divine messenger in the film, unveiled the track 'Mahadeva'. Sharing the track, the actor wrote, “And it’s time for my favourite track. Let’s go #Mahadeva, Mahadeva, Mahadeva!!! ✨Song out now. #OMG2 #OMG2InCinemasNow.”

Filmmaker Karan Johar took to Instagram on Friday to share that his latest film, Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, has made Rs 300 crore at the global box office in three weeks of release. Sharing the news, with a post, Karan also opened a nite for his fans. Along with a poster of the film, he wrote, "To know that our prem kahaani has reached the corners of the world and hearts… feeling humbled and grateful and especially for all the love you have given to Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani!!! Thank you." RARKPK was released on July 28 and also stars Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan, and Shabana Azmi.

Actor Fardeen Khan took Instagram by storm on Friday after he posted a shirtless beach selfie. Sharing his solo picture, in which Fardeen looked away from the camera with the beautiful sunset in the background. His amazing transformation and physique in the photo have gone viral, and many celebrities, from Abhishek Bachchan to Dia Mirza, have complimented him. He captioned the post: "Sun, sea, sunset. A perfect end to a beautiful day." As per reports, Fardeen will be making his comeback on OTT soon with Sanjay Leela Bhansali's web series Heeramandi.

Filmmaker Subhash Ghai recently, in an interview, hinted at the sequel to Sanjay Dutt, Maduri Dixit, and Suniel Shetty starrer Khal Nayak. The film was released in 1993. Talking about the same, he was quoted by News18 as saying, "We have iconic films like Karma, Ram Lakhan, Saudagar, these films are still relevant. Now, in Khal Nayak, if Ballu Balram comes on screen, how will that be? Then why should any producer not think of reviving and move the story ahead? So, definitely Khal Nayak and other films are being discussed. We even have offers from other studios, but the mentality of these studios are very commercial, wherein we are thinking how to better what we already have." Ghai recently ventured into television with his latest production, titled Jaanaki. The series is about women's empowerment and airs on DD National.

Filmmaker Zoya Akhtar recently responded to an Instagram user who questioned her over the portrayal of Muslim characters in her shows and films. Pointing at Made In Heaven 2’s Dia Mirza’s character, who played Shehnaz in the sixth episode, she tries to kill herself when her husband (played by Pravin Dabas) marries for the second time. In a long note shared by Zoya addressing the allegations of using excerpts from Yashica Dutt's book and life in episode 5, featuring Radhika Apte as a Dalit bride. A user in the comment section asked the filmmaker, "Zoya can you normal Muslim character in your shows. One positive story that is not oppressed." Replying to the question, Zoya listed out some powerful Muslim characters from her film and wrote, "Zaffar Khan and Tanveer in Luck By Chance. Imran and Laila in ZNMD. Farah Ali in Dil Dhadakne Do. Practically everyone in Gully Boy. Sarfaraz Khan and Leila Shirazi, Kabir, Faiza and Nawab have in Made In Heaven."

Actor Akshay Kumar's latest film, OMG 2, has been loved by audiences. Recently, there were reports that the film had been made on a budget of Rs 150 crore. Refuting the claims, Ajit Andhare, COO of the film's distributor, Viacom 18 Studios, told Pinkvilla that Akshay did not charge a single penny for his role in the film. Talking about its budget, he stated, "The reports of the budget of OMG 2 are grossly exaggerated. On the contrary, Akshay didn't charge a rupee in fee and in fact, walked alongside us in both the financial and creative risk involved in such a courageous film." He then went on to add, "We share a long history and understanding with him as a studio since OMG, Special 26, and Toilet: Ek Prem Katha. I have been totally in lockstep with him in taking up scripts that are unconventional but stand for something larger and meaningful." He then stated that Akshay has been creatively and finally invested in the movie, and it’s budget was pretty small, just ₹50 crore.

Fashion designer Tarun Tahiliani has expressed disappointment over the use of his designs in Prime Video’s recently released series Made In Heaven 2. On Instagram Stories, Tarun posted a series of photos from one of the episodes of MIH, which featured Marunal Thakur. Talking about how his designs were used without giving him credit, Tarun creations were falsely represented by a fictitious designer on the show that has been created by Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti. On Thursday, the designer shared Mrunal’s pictures from the show dressed as a bride and wrote, "It is most unfortunate when a popular OTT series violates the understanding behind the provision of clothing in the first place! Case in point: Significant portions of the second episode of Made in Heaven, were styled using clothes provided by the Tarun Tahiliani studio in good faith to the stylist."

Akshay Kumar, Pankaj Tripathi, and Yami Gautam starrer social drama OMG 2 has slowed down at the box office ahead of coming close to the 100 crore mark. On Thursday, the film collected Rs 5.25 crore, taking its first-week total collection to Rs 84.72 crore. The film is directed by Amit Rai and is a sequel to the 2012 movie of the same name.

Abhishek Bachchan’s much-awaited sports drama Ghoomer releases in theatres today, August 18. Directed by R Balki, the film promises to be an inspiring story of a paraplegic cricketer who is coached by an ex-cricketer, played by Abhishek. Actor Amitabh Bachchan, ahead of the film’s release, took to X and cheered for his son, and he also penned an emotional note wishing him good luck. On the microblogging site X, Amitabh wrote, "T 4741 - Abhishek I can say this as a Father, yes, but also as a member of the fraternity we both belong to..At this young age and in the time period, you have performed in the most complex characters in film after film .. all different convincing and all successful."
