Sharing the news of his death, trade analyst Ramesh Bala wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter, "Popular Tamil Character/Comedy Actor #RSShivaji passed away in Chennai this morning.. He acted in this Friday release #LuckyMan and has done several memorable roles including #ApoorvaSagodharargal etc May his soul RIP!"

Jimmy Buffett, the celebrated American musician, songwriter, author, and businessman, whose real name was James William Buffett, sadly passed away on Friday, September 1st. Although the exact cause of his death has not been immediately revealed, an official announcement regarding his passing was posted on his official website. “Jimmy passed away peacefully on the night of September 1st surrounded by his family, friends, music and dogs. He lived his life like a song till the very last breath and will be missed beyond measure by so many," the statement read.

Rajinikanth's superhit crime drama Jailer will now stream on Prime Video starting September 7, announced the film’s director Nelson Dilipkumar in a statement. Dream Girl 2, starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Ananya Panday in lead roles, suffered a significant drop on its second Friday. The film collected ₹4.7 crore on Friday, as per early estimates. Its day 8 total now stands at Rs 71.7 crore. It had opened at over ₹10 crore amid positive reviews on August 25. Its prequel of the same name, which came out in 2019, earned a total of Rs 142 crore at the domestic box office.

Shah Rukh Khan and Atlee's most-awaited movie Jawan opened to tremendous response for its advance booking for India, as it sold over 2 lakh tickets on day 1. As per early estimates, Jawan sold as many as 2,55,153 tickets for the Hindi 2D screen on Friday, September 1, while the IMAX Hindi screen witnessed 11,261 advance ticket bookings. The film’s Hindi version has already minted Rs 1.12 crore in the Delhi-NCR region, while the Tamil version sold less in comparison to Hindi, which is only 3,754. For Telugu, it sold 1008 tickets in the Telugu version. In total, 2,71,176 tickets for Jawan were sold on day 1 of its advance booking.
