Despite the Supreme Court's verdict in favor of The Kerala Story, lifting the ban imposed in West Bengal, the authorities in the state are persistently prohibiting theater owners from screening the film. Producer Vipul Amrutlal Shah recently opened up about the same and told ETimes, "It is absolutely shocking that after the judgment, there is a complete illegal ban imposed in theaters in Bengal. The theater owners are getting threat calls from the cops and the administration that if they open the booking station, their theater won't be secure. A couple of people who had opened for the booking have come down so heavily on the theater owners that nobody is able to run the film."
