Gulshan Devaiah Interview: If there is any actor who has left an impressionable mark in the Hindi film industry with his versatility and back-to-back remarkable work, it is none other than Gulshan Devaiah. He is currently the most sought-after actor and has established himself with his acting marvels and captivating performances.
Gulshan returned with the second season of his hit web series, "Duranga," and is basking in all the love for his role. Speaking to Filimbeat in an exclusive chat, the actor opened up about what keeps him motivated, how he chooses his scripts, offers from the South, and more.
Any device you follow to pick a script or anything particular you see to say yes to the script?
I think my nature is like that. I try to look at things differently and do things unconventionally. Main chizo ko unconventional tarike se dekhta hu. I try to sort of imagine in my head how this character would speak, walk, and all that. And with experience, I think it becomes a little easier to do such things, and it doesn't require that much effort. So, I make an effort to bring in some quirks and elements of humans into that character, which makes it look real.
Which one of your characters would you like to play again?
It would be interesting to see how I would play Mandar Ponkshe from Hunterrr now. The film was released in 2015, so it would be interesting to see how I would approach it right now, like, say, Shaitan or something. I don't have the youth to play the same character again, but just a hypothetical situation agar main in do kirdaro ko vapas karta toh main bhi curious hu to know how my approach will be. Just for experimenting, I'd love to see how I would approach these two characters.
Are you getting offers in South films?
I am getting offers from the south every year. Mujhe ache roles offer arahe hai lekin time ka issue ho raha hai. Do successful pan-India franchise ka offer aya tha mujhe laking nahi kar paya. Unfortunately, because of a date clash, I couldn't take them up. Maine jo commitment diya hai, hindi me woh chod nahi sakte na.
What keeps Gulshan Devaiah motivated? If you get a chance to leave everything and have a different life, what will you choose?
I don't think I would choose anything else. Haan, but bahut sare regret hote hai lakin, what keeps me motivated is that I feel that I'm always looking ahead, and I think the best is yet to come and is still ahead of me. Mujhe ek actor ki zindagi jeene mein aur acting karne mein bahut maza araha hai. I've got the right balance in life now, along with financial security as well. All of these things also create some balance. But I really look forward to things and still have enthusiasm inside me whenever I'm approached for a role. Toh jab tak roles ko lekar acitment hai tab tak sab thik hai.
