Gumraah Box Office Day 1 Collection: Aditya Roy Kapur-Mrunal Thakur’s Film Registers UNIMPRESSIVE Opening

Gumraah: Aditya Roy Kapur, who has been soaring high in the spectacular success of his last ott release, The Night Manager, made a comeback on the big screen with the action-thriller, Gumraah. Helmed by debutante Vardhan Ketkar, the film was released on April 7 amid decent buzz.
Gumraah is the Hindi remake of the 2019 Tamil film, Thadam featuring Arun Vijay and Vidhya Pradeep in the lead. The film was directed by Magizh Thirumeni. Gumraah brings the fresh pairing of Aditya Roy Kapur and Mrunal Thakur in the lead.
The story revolves around a gruesome murder of a young man. Shibani Mathur (Mrunal Thakur) is seen investigating the case. However, things get complicated and take an unexpected turn when the cops discover the lookalike of the prime suspect (Aditya Roy Kapur). The film also stars Ronit Roy, Vedika Pinto, and Deepak Kalra in pivotal roles. The film had a comparatively low buzz before its release, which was very well reflected on the opening day.
GUMRAAH FAILS TO PULL VIEWERS ON DAY 1
Gumraah failed to pull audiences to the theaters on the opening day thus, the film just minted Rs 1.50 crores on the day of its release, as per a report in Sacnilk. It is a pure disappointment for a film that was made on a big budget of 50 crores. Aditya Roy Kapur and Mrunal Thakur enjoy a loyal fanbase and the early reviews that poured in received mixed reviews. Now, talking about the weekend collection, the film might flare well depending on the word of mouth.
Prior to its release, Aditya Roy Kapur and Mrunal Thakur hosted a special screening of the film. The screening was attended by several Bollywood celebs including Vidya Balan, Ronit Roy, Anees Bazmee, Bhushan Kumar, Sajid Nadiadwala, and Asha Negi amongst others.
Earlier, talking about the film, Aditya Roy Kapur was quoted as saying by Mirchi Plus, "I am inspired and excited to be part of telling such an interesting story. The original film was incredibly riveting and entertaining, and it left a lasting impression on me. As an actor, getting a chance to do a double role is double the preparation and double the challenge, and I'm certainly up for it! I look forward to collaborating with Bhushanji, Murad Bhai, and Vardhan to bring this exciting thriller to the screen soon."
