‘I Was Being Pushed Into A Corner’: Priyanka Chopra Reveals The Real Reason Why She Moved To Hollywood

Priyanka Chopra is one of the most popular Bollywood actresses who has established herself as a global icon now. She is currently gearing up for her spy thriller, 'Citadel'. After making it big in the Bollywood industry, she moved to the west almost eight years ago and made her debut in Hollywood with Quantico. While there are several speculations, PeeCee recently spoke about the real reason why she left behind her well-established career in Bollywood to give it a shot in Hollywood.

During an interaction with Dax Shepherd on his podcast Armchair Expert, the 'desi girl' revealed how she was not the happiest with the work she was getting from Bollywood. On the talk show, Priyanka said that for the very first time, she was feeling 'safe' to open up about the real reason why she started looking for work in the US.

The Dil Dhadakne Do star revealed that she was shooting for Saat Khoon Maaf when Anjula Acharia of Desi Hits spotted her in a music video. Anjula asked her if she would be interested in a music career in the US.

PRIYANKA CHOPRA WAS LOOKING FOR A WAY OUT OF BOLLYWOOD

At the time when Anjula had called her, she was already looking for a way out of Bollywood. The Bajirao Mastani actress revealed she was being pushed into a corner in the Bollywood industry. People were not casting her and she had beef with people.

Tired of the industry politics, Priyanka said needed a break. She further added, "This music thing gave me an opportunity to go into another part of the world, not crave for the movies I didn't want to get but I would require to schmooze certain clubs and cliques of people. It would require groveling and I had worked a long time by then that I didn't feel like I wanted to do it."

Priyanka, who has worked with several singing stars including Pitbull, Will.I.Am, Pharell Williams, among others soon realized that she was much better at her day job when her music career did not pan out. The actress said it was then that someone suggested she try her hands on acting roles as well. She eventually landed herself into the lead role in ABC's show, Quantico. Priyanka soon made her big screen debut with Baywatch. And since then, there has been no looking back.
