Josh Creator Kusumita Roy Shares Special Plans For Durga Puja 2023

The holy festival of Durga Puja is around the corner and everyone is planning to celebrate the occasion in their way. Among these, Josh creator Kusumita Roy has shared her special plans for Durga Puja this year which will melt your heart. For the uninitiated, Kusumita has been associated with Josh for almost two years and is thankful for the love and recognition that came her way while creating content for India's most popular short video making app.

"Josh has brought many changes to my life. Initially, I didn't have permission to make videos at home. I used to make videos secretly and could only make them when I was ready to go somewhere. But after Josh came into my life, my family warmly accepted my friend Josh and now encourages me to make videos," she was quoted saying. Interestingly, Kusumita is also associated with Miliyani and together they are putting in efforts to make Durga Puja special for everyone

Explaining the same she stated, "Durga Puja is the best festival for Bengalis. This Puja belongs to everyone. That's why, in this festival, so that children can enjoy and put on new clothes, Milayini has taken the initiative to bring smiles to the faces of children and to be with people". She recalled that in the three year journey of Milayini, they have received assistance, love, and blessings from many people

"During the COVID-19 pandemic when people were struggling to survive, we took the responsibility of providing study materials (notebooks, pens, pencils, rulers, erasers, and dry food) to 10 children left behind. Subsequently, our next steps included providing old but usable clothes, shoes, school bags, and winter clothing every year," Kusumita was quoted saying.

Sharing her plans for Durga Puja, Kusumita said, "During the puja, we donate new clothes to children. We also provide food and groceries for mentally challenged children in the slums of Ghatatala and Nimtala".

This isn't all. She also revealed how they become Santa during Christmas and distribute cakes and gifts among street children

"Fulfilling the dreams of children who can only imagine eating at a restaurant, we celebrate their birthdays and treat them to a meal. For children who love to draw but cannot afford art supplies, we provide drawing materials, colors, and sketchbooks," she asserted.

Besides, they also organize drawing competitions for underprivileged children, provide encouragement and awards in the form of art supplies and books for first-, second-, and third-place winners' stories, food distribution during events, organize educational trips for disadvantaged children - visits to the Indian Museum and Alipore Zoo, hosts health awareness camps and distribution of sanitary napkins for girls during menstruation along with free blood pressure checks and counseling.

Kusumita with Milayini also provides financial help to cover tuition fees for kids in need along with voluntary blood donation camps and rakhi-tying celebrations and the two-day children's film festival aimed at providing entertaining education and mental development.
