In
a
recent
candid
interview,
renowned
filmmaker
Karan
Johar
once
again
recalled
a
harrowing
incident
from
the
past,
wherein
he
received
death
threats
during
the
release
of
his
iconic
film
Kuch
Kuch
Hota
Hai
(KKHH)
back
in
1998.
Talking
about
the
same,
KJo
also
opened
up
on
how
Shah
Rukh
Khan
offered
to
stand
by
his
side
even
in
the
face
of
danger.
During
his
recent
candid
interview,
Karan
Johar
revisited
the
time
when
his
dream
of
hosting
KKHH's
premiere
at
Mumbai's
Liberty
Theatre
was
almost
shattered.
The
Rocky
Aur
Rani
Kii
Prem
Kahaani
director
also
recalled
how
due
to
these
threats,
he
was
confined
to
a
small
room
as
a
protective
measure
and
had
to
skip
the
red
carpet
of
the
film's
screening.
During
the
interview,
Karan
also
spoke
about
his
bond
with
Shah
Rukh
and
how
he,
who
was
aware
of
his
dream
to
see
the
legendary
Shammi
Kapoor
attend
the
premiere,
ensured
that
he
experienced
that
moment.
"I
was
sitting
in
this
tiny
room
because
of
all
the
security.
For
whatever
reason
(the
people
who
issued
the
death
threat)
didn't
want
us
to
release
the
film.
The
authorities
said
that
please
go
ahead
and
release
it," KJo
recalled.
He
added,
"Shah
Rukh
knew
about
this
dream
I
had
so
when
Shammi
uncle
came
out
of
his
Mercedes
car,
Shah
Rukh
went
inside,
brought
me
out,
and
made
me
stand
right
in
front
of
him.
He
said,
'Nobody
will
do
anything
to
you.
You
watch
this
moment.' So
I
saw
that
moment
happen
and
I
literally
had
tears
in
my
eyes
because
it
was
my
dream
actually
realizing
itself.
Shah
Rukh
said,
'You
won't
go
from
here.'
My
mother
got
hyper,
my
father
got
hyper
and
they
sent
me
back.
But
I
will
never
forget
how
Shah
Rukh
brought
me
out.
He
said,
'I'll
take
the
bullet
for
you,
you
just
stand
there.'
That's
when
I
realized
that
this
is
a
relationship
that
is
forever."
Karan
first
opened
on
this
heartwarming
incident
in
his
biography,
"The
Unsuitable
Boy." In
his
memoir,
he
also
detailed
the
events
that
unfolded
on
the
night
of
the
film's
premiere.
After
the
screening,
Karan
and
his
parents
took
a
flight
to
London
and
spent
the
opening
weekend
there,
unaware
of
the
fact
that
KKHH
performed
brilliantly
at
the
box
office.
Meanwhile,
Shah
Rukh
and
Karan
Johar's
bond
has
only
grown
stronger
over
the
years.
In
the
same
interview,
Johar
also
talked
about
how
SRK
did
not
charge
a
penny
for
his
appearances
in
his
films
including,
Ae
Dil
Hai
Mushkil
and
Brahmastra.
