Karan Johar Reveals Shah Rukh Khan Was First Man Who Embraced His Sexuality: He Made Me Feel Like Equal

Karan Johar On Sexuality: Bollywood ace filmmaker Karan Johar made a heartfelt revelation in a recent interview about his relationship with Bollywood superstar, Shah Rukh Khan.

The director, known for his contributions to the Indian film industry and candid conversations about his personal life, shared how SRK has always had his back throughout his journey in the Hindi film industry.

KARAN JOHAR OPENS UP ON HIS SEXUALITY

During his latest interview with, We Are Yuvaa, Karan Johar recalled his early years when he grappled with his own identity, particularly his sexuality. He shared that his parents struggled to understand him, and his effeminate qualities often led to mockery.

"He was born and brought up in a very progressive environment. He comes from theatre. He had worked with all kinds of people. My parents, perhaps, weren't able to understand things. My feminine side that was coming out so strongly was only met with laughter or with being made fun of. And then when I grew a little older, people got a little quieter about it. But I could tell whether there was a slight chitter-chatter about the way I was walking or speaking."

Karan Johar, who is known for his charisma and warmth, proved to be a pivotal figure in Karan Johar's life. He added on the podcast, "I remember Shah Rukh Khan was the first, kind of like, man that didn't make me feel lesser for some reason. I feel like he accepted what in those days were considered being pansy, being effeminate or walking funny. He was just so cool about anything. He even had a lot of open chats with me. Whenever I had to say the biggest thing about my personality and sexuality, I spoke to him first. He was that one sense of support. Even he doesn't realize what he's been to me."

Meanwhile, on the professional front, Karan Johar made his directorial comeback with Ranveer Singh-Alia Bhatt starrer, Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. He currently has 'Yodha' and 'Jigra' in the works.
