Nawazuddin Siddiqui Reacts To Backlash Over Kissing 21-Year-Old Avneet Kaur, Calls Young Generation ‘Nalli’

Nawazuddin Siddiqui Aveent Kaur: Actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui's pairing with 21-year-old actress Avneet Kaur in the upcoming romantic drama Tiku Weds Sheru recently met with severe backlash.

After the trailer for the film was released, many on the internet were left aghast at the huge age gap between the two actors. Many called out the actor and makers of the film, including the producer Kangana Ranaut, for the kissing scenes filmed between the stars, as Avneet is 28 years younger than Nawazuddin.

And now, amid the backlash, the Gangs of Wasseypur actor has reacted to the criticism. Addressing the issue, Nawazuddin said that "romance is ageless" and that the young generation doesn't know about romance.

In a recent interview with India Today, Nawazuddin defended his pairing with Aveent and also responded to the backlash over the questionable scenes between the two.

He said, "Why will there be a problem? Romance is ageless. The problem is that the young men have no romance left. We are from the times when romance was something else. We would be in love and be in 'ishq' for years."

He then cited Shah Rukh Khan's example and added, "Romance is ageless. The problem is that the young men have no romance left. We are from the times when romance was something else. We would be in love and be in 'ishq' for years."

He continued, saying, "Today, Shah Rukh Khan continues to do romantic roles because the young generation is 'nalli' (useless). They don't know romance."

Meanwhile, Tiku Weds Sheru has been produced under Kangana Ranaut's first production banner, Manikarnika Films. The romantic comedy film is helmed by Sai Kabir. The movie also stars Zakir Hussain, Vipin Sharma, and Mukesh S Bhatt in supporting roles.

Tiku Weds Sheru will directly stream on Amazon Prime Video on June 23.
