Nitin Desai Death: In a shocking turn of events, renowned art director and production designer, Nitin Chandrakant Desai was found dead at his ND Studio in Karjat on Wednesday, August 2. While the autopsy report has confirmed the cause of death as hanging, the Raigad police have launched a thorough investigation into the circumstances leading up to this tragic incident.
Nitin Desai was reportedly grappling with financial difficulties, due to which he took his life. Now, the authorities are set to delve into every possible angle to understand the factors that might have contributed to his decision to end his life.
In the latest developments, the police has discovered an audio file on Desai's phone. According to TOI, in the 'recorded suicide message,' Desai allegedly mentions four individuals by name. The same four names were also found saved in his phone contacts.
This revelation has led the police to consider the possibility that these individuals could be linked to Desai's financial struggles and could have played a role in pushing him to take such an extreme step.
Now, the authorities will summon these four individuals for questioning. A forensic team has taken possession of Desai's phone to conduct a detailed analysis of the recorded message and other digital evidence.
Nitin Desai's financial struggles came to the spotlight in the wake of his demise. Reports suggest that he was burdened with a staggering debt amounting to over Rs 250 crore. According to IANS, Desai and his wife Naina had taken loans amounting to Rs 150 crore in 2016 and an additional Rs 31 crore in 2018.
His financial woes intensified when he began defaulting on payments, eventually accumulating a massive outstanding sum of Rs 252 crore by June 2022. This dire financial situation led to the initiation of insolvency proceedings in late July.
