Nitin Desai Funeral: Note Bollywood art director Nitin Desai, who designed sets of classic Hindi films "Jodhaa Akbar" and "Devdas," was found dead in his Karjat studio near Mumbai on Wednesday, August 2. His untimely demise has left the entire industry in shock.

It has been reported that he was under financial stress, which might have been the reason for his taking a drastic step. He was 58 and had defaulted on a Rs 252 crore loan repayment to creditors.

The Mumbai bench of the National Company Law Tribunal had also initiated insolvency proceedings against it, reported news agency PTI.

And now, according to the latest update, his mortal remains have been brought to his ND Art World Pvt Ltd Studios today, and his last rites will take place at Studio No. 10 as per his last wish.

Art director Nitin Chandrakant Desai's body has been brought to his Karjat studio, where it will be kept for darshan for people to pay their last respects. After that, his body will be taken for procession with a flower-bedecked cortege to the helipad.

This is located around half a kilometre inside the studio premises, and then his mortal remains will be consigned to the flames. His body for now is kept on the sets of Jodha Akbar at Diwan-I-Am for antim darshan.

Talking about the same source, he told ETimes, "The reason why his mortal remains are kept at the Jodha Akbar sets is because that was the film that gave him distinct and outstanding fame. The film was particularly known for Nitin Desai's artwork, more than any other aspect. He built four huge sets for the film, and Diwan-I Am is one of the huge sets."

Motiram Thomre, who was associated with Nitin for over 20 years, said that his wife Neha and their three children-a son and two daughters will be present at the funeral. Many Bollywood personalities, politicians, his relatives and friends, and Raigad local villagers are reported to have arrived for the funeral.

Desai had left a voice recording in which he said his last rites should be held at Studio No. 10.

"At night, on the sets of Marathi Pavool Padte Pudhe, Studio number 10, hedrew a bow and arrow with sutali (rassi), placed a ladder on the bow and arrow, and hung himself. In the recording, Desai mentioned not to take his ND Studios away from him. He also mentioned that his last rites would be performed at Studio no 10," Etimes quoted an insider.

Nitin was found hanging at his studio on August 2. He has worked in several movies like Parinda, Lagaan, Devdas, Mission Kashmir, Dostana, and Panipat, among others. He has also produced two Marathi films.
