Akshay Kumar's OMG 2 has been all over the headlines these days - be it for its stupendous opening, rave reviews or controversies. In fact, this Amit Rai directorial has been mired with controversies ever since the trailer was released and it has left the nation brimming with an opinion.
Also starring Pankaj Tripathi and Yami Gautam in the lead, Akshay Kumar is seen playing the role of Lord Shiva's messenger in the film and his look has been receiving a lot of backlash from the religious outfits. And now, post a stupendous opening at the box office, OMG 2 is once again making the headlines after a Hindu outfit launched protests against the film in Agra and announced a reward for anyone who would slap Akshay Kumar.
According to media reports, Rashtriya Bajrang Dal workers had gathered outside Shree Talkies and demanded the removal of the movie from the theatres. In fact, the workers reportedly set an effigy of Akshay Kumar on fire as a mark of protest.
Govind Prashar, a member of the Rashtriya Hindu Parishad, announced that the organisation will give Rs 10 lakh to anyone who slapped Akshay Kumar or blackened his face citing that the actor has hurt Hindu sentiments. He even demanded a ban on the film.
To note, this isn't the first time that OMG 2 has been facing a backlash. Earlier, Vrindavan's Sadhvi Rithambara had slammed the movie. She said, "It has happened in the past also that Hindu deities have been insulted in films. We will not tolerate any kind of playing with the Hindu faith. If Bollywood continues to do this, Hindus will protest against it on the roads. Devotion to Lord Shiva is not a joke".
Meanwhile, OMG 2 has been witnessing a decent business at the box office and is inching towards Rs 50 crore mark. It is witnessing a box office clash with Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel starrer Gadar 2 which is roaring loud at the box office.
