ABOUT KAPURTHALA HOUSE

Kapurthala House is the former residence of the Maharaja of Kapurthala and is located in Delhi's posh area of Connaught Place. It is currently used by the State of Punjab and the residence of the Chief Minister of Punjab wherever she visits the national capital.

Parineeti Chopra is getting engaged to her love Raghav Chadha in this fort, which will witness many Bollywood celebrities in attendance, including Parineeti's cousin Priyanak Chorpa, Karan Johar, Manish Malhotra, and others. While Delhi CM Kerjriwla and Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann will also be gracing the celebrations.

KAPURTHALA HOUSE CONTROVERSY

On July 31, 2019, the Delhi High Court quashed the right to sell the palatial property of the late Maharaja of Kapurthala, which was vested with the Government of India. The order further mentioned that the particular property cannot be sold because the Maharaja has lost the right to do.

HOW DID THE CONFLICT ESCALATE?

In 1950, the Indian government acquired Kapurthala House from Radheshyam Makhnilal Seksaria, who had purchased it from Maharaja Paramjit Singh of Kapurthala for Rs 1.5 lakh. In 1960, Seksaria filed a lawsuit in the Delhi district court claiming ownership of the property, which was later transferred to the Delhi High Court in 1967. Seksaria passed away while the case was ongoing, and her four children took over as plaintiffs, acting as her legal representatives.
