Pradeep Sarkar Death: Friday started off on a sad note for the entertainment industry as ace filmmaker Pradeep Sarkar passed away at 3.30 am on March 24. He was 67. He is best known for his films such as Parineeta, Laga Chunari Mein Daag, Mardaani, and Helicopter Eela. As per reports, Sarkar was undergoing dialysis, and he was rushed to the hospital at 3 am when his potassium levels dropped drastically.
Hansal Mehta, a close friend of Pradeep Sarkar, took to Twitter on Friday morning to share the news of his death. He wrote, "Pradeep Sarkar. Dada. RIP."

Celebrities from the film fraternity took to social media to express their heartfelt condolences to Parineeta's director. Many remembered him as a happy soul, while some expressed shock at his untimely demise. In his eulogy, actor-director Ajay Devgn tweeted, "The news of Pradeep Sarkar's demise, 'Dada' to some of us is still hard to digest. My deepest condolences. My prayers are with the departed and his family. RIP Dada."
Retweeting Hansal Mehta's tweet, Actor Manoj Bajpayee wrote: "Ohh! That's so shocking! Rest in peace Dada."
Neil Nitin Mukesh, who has previously worked with Sarkar in Lafangey Parindey, wrote on Twitter, "DADA! Why? I'll miss you dada. Will always remember you as that child hearted, full of life man who taught me so much. Your creation Lafangey Parindey will always remain close to my heart. My prayers with the family."
Expressing her grief, Nitu chandra tweeted, "Very sad to know about our dearest director @pradeepsrkar dada. I started my career with him. He had an aesthetic talent to make his films look larger than life. From #Parineeta #lagachunrimeindaag to a no. Of movies. Dada, you will be be missed. #RestInPeace (sic)." Let us tell you that Neetu was very close to Pradeep Sarkar.
ABOUT PRADEEP SARKAR WORK
Pradeep Sarkar was a renowned name in the field of film and advertising. He began his career with Vinod Chopra Productions, which is owned by director Vidhu Vinod Chopra. He spent about 17 years as a Creative Director - Art in mainstream advertising before embarking on his directorial journey as an ad-film maker. Apart from commercials, Sarkar was also a music composer. He forayed into film making in 2005 with Parineeta, which also won a National Film Award in the Best Debut Film of a Director category.
He then went on to direct Laaga Chunari Mein Daag (2007), Lafangey Parindey (2010), Mardaani (2014), and Helicopter Eela (2018). He also directed many web series like Cold Lassi Aur Chicken Masala (2019), Arranged Marriage and Forbidden Love (2020) and Duranga (2022).
