PRIYANKA CHOPRA RECALLS HOW A DOCTOR ACCIDENTALY SHAVED THE BRIDGE OF HER NOSE, WHICH CHANGED HER APPEARANCE
The incident occurred soon after she won the Miss World title over two decades ago. PeeCee said she went to a doctor because she was having breathing issues and had a 'lingering head cold'. She revealed that the doctor had found a polyp (tissue growth) and thus suggested surgery to get the polyp removed from her nasal cavity.
Priyanka added that the doctor accidentally shaved the bridge of her nose, causing it to collapse. This surgery resulted in a change in her appearance which eventually resulted in her losing on three big movie projects. At that time, she started fearing that her acting career was 'over before it started'.
Later, PeeCee underwent corrective surgery to fix the damage that the previous surgery had caused. The actress further stated that it was his late father Ashok Chopra, a doctor in the Indian Army, who had encouraged her to get the corrective surgery done.

PeeCee told Stern, "This thing happens, and my face looks completely different, and I went into a deep, deep depression... it (her acting career) was over before it started (as she was fired from three different movies after the fact). I was terrified of that, but he (her dad) was like, 'I will be in the room with you."
Further in the interview, Priyanka credited Bollywood director Anil Sharma for giving her work. The actress added, "I was supposed to play this lead, and I was shifted to a supporting character. That filmmaker (Anil Sharma) was very kind... He, while the tide was against me, said, 'It will be a small part, but give it your all.' And I did." Anil had directed Priyanka's first Hindi film, The Hero: Love Story of a Spy (2003).
