Apni Sanskriti Se Khilwad..: Ramayan's Laxman Sunil Lahri Miffed With Adipurush, Calls Dialogues ‘Bekaar'

Ramayan's Laxman Sunil Lahri: Filmmaker Om Raut's latest movie, Adipurush, starring Prabhas, Kriti Sanon, and Saif Ali Khan, opened to a terrific response at the theatres. Though the film has managed to earn good figures, it is being slammed for its poorly-written dialogues and cringe-worthy representation of Ramayana.
From audiences to industry people, all have lashed out at the film's makers for using 'tapori' language and the wrong depiction of the epic's characters. After Arun Govil, who played Lord Ram, and Dipika Chikhlia, who played Sita in Ramand Sagar's Ramayan, the latest to bash the film is actor Sunil Lahri.
Ramayan's Laxman Sunil Lahri miffed with Adipurush
Actor Sunil Lahri, who played Laxman in the television serial Ramayan, recently expressed his disappointment after watching Adipurush. Sunil became a household name for playing the ionic role in Ramanand Sagar's TV show. expressing his dismay at the portrayal of Ramayan in Adipurush, Sunil called out the makers for making a mockery of Indian culture.
Talking to his Instagram page on Monday morning, Sunil Lahri stated in a video message in Hindi, "Bohot ummeed thi ki kuch alag hatke, kuch different Ramayan ka version dekhne ko milega. Par very disappointing. Kuch hatke kuch alag karne ke naam par apni sankriti se khilwad nahi kiya jata."
He further criticised the dialogues and called them "bekaar". In concluding his video, he also said that the makers have played with the sentiments of the country's people and should feel sorry about it. He captioned his video as, "My personal view after watching film aadi purush which is based on Ramayan...(sic)"
Arun Govil aka Ram of Ramayan also slammed Adipurush
Meanwhile, Arun Govil, who is popularly known for playing Lord Ram, has called Adipurush "Hollywood ki cartoon." Talking to ABP, Govil said that he hadn't watched the film yet but questioned the modernization of the epic.
"What was wrong with the depiction we have all known and loved for all these years? What was the need to change things? Perhaps the team doesn't have proper faith in Lord Rama and Sita, and that is why they made these changes," he said.
Adipurush's makers defend the movie
On the other hand, Om Raut and Adipurush writer Manoj Muntashir have come out in defence of their movie. Muntashir had said, "We have made it simple because we have to understand one thing (that) if there are multiple characters in a film, all of them can't speak the language. There has to be a kind of diversion, a division."
