Rio Kapadia Funeral: The Indian entertainment industry is mourning the loss of one of its finest talents, Rio Kapadia, who passed away yesterday, September 14. He was 66. He is known for his iconic roles in television and a string of successful Bollywood films.
The actor who will be known for his roles in Bollywood movies including Dil Chahta Hai, Chak De! India, and Happy New Year among others, lost his battle to cancer and passed away on September 14 at 12:30 PM. His friend Faisal Malik told PTI, "He passed away in the afternoon at around 12:30 pm. He was suffering from cancer."
RIO KAPADIA'S LAST RITES PERFORMED
Today, on September 15, friends, family, and fans came together to bid a tearful final farewell to this legendary actor. His last rites were performed at the Shiv Dham Shamshan Bhoomi in Goregaon. Pictures and videos of his last rites surfaced on social media that shows his daughter inconsolable. Check out the videos.
A official statement was also shared by Rio's family that read, "Dear friends, with great regret I wish to inform you guys that our dear friend Rio Kapadia passed away at 12:30 pm today." The actor is survived by wife Maria and daughter Farah.Rio left an undeliable mark in the entertainment industry with his substantial roles and his untimely passing left an unavoidable void.

His remarkable performances in movies like Dil Chahta Hai, where he portrayed the character of Mr. Shankaran alongside Aamir Khan, Saif Ali Khan, and Akshaye Khanna and Chak De India, where his distinctive voice as a commentator lent depth to Shah Rukh Khan's super-hit sports drama. His portrayal of JT C.P Sinha in Rani Mukerji's Mardaani also spoke volumes about his versatility as an actor. He also starred in films like Happy New Year, Khuda Haafiz, Agent Vinod and The Big Bull.
He also featured in several OTT shows including, Mayanagri - City Of Dreams, The Test Case, The Verdict - State VS Nanwati, Bombay Begums, and his most recent appearance in Made In Heaven 2.
