CBFC Makes Cuts In Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani: Karan Johar's highly-awaited romantic comedy, Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, is all set to hit the theaters on July 28. The film has been granted a U/A certificate by the CBFC but with certain changes and cuts.
Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani marks Karan's seventh directorial venture, after a seven-year hiatus since his last film, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, which was released in 2016. The film has been jointly bankrolled by Karan's Dharma Productions and Viacom18 Studios, and it boasts a star-studded cast of Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan, and Shabana Azmi among others in pivotal roles.
CBFC RECOMMENDS CHANGES IN KARAN JOHAR'S ROCKY AUR RANI KII PREM KAHAANI
Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani went through the mandatory CBFC screening ahead of its release this Friday, and the statutory film certification body implemented a series of alterations to ensure a smooth release.
The Karan Johar directorial has been granted a U/A certificate, with cuts in controversial and abusive words. The word 'b*******d' has been replaced with 'behen di,' and the term 'bra' has been substituted with 'item.' The famous rum brand Old Monk has also been modified to 'Bold Monk.'
Furthermore, the CBFC decided to remove three dialogues from the film. These include references to Lok Sabha and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and a scene set in a lingerie shop deemed 'vulgar'.
Moreover, some modifications have been made to the Rabindranath Tagore scene, which generated considerable interest among audiences when featured in the trailer.
As a result of these changes and cuts, the Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt starrer is reported to have a runtime of 2 hours and 48 minutes.
Meanwhile, as the film gears up for its much-awaited release, movie enthusiasts can watch the film in a theatre near you starting this Friday.
