Actress Chrisann Pereira Jailed In Drug Trafficking Case

Chrisann Pereira, the actress who has featured in Bollywood films including Sadak 2, Batla House among others has been booked in a drug trafficking case. The actress is currently jailed in UAE. Her family has called her the victim in the case.

As per a report in Hindustan Times, Chrisann's family has said that the actress has been framed in the drug racket. It has been reported that Chrisann was taken into custody by the UAE airport authorities after she was caught with drugs.

CHRISANN PEREIRA'S MOTHER WAS CONTACTED BY THE ACCUSED

Claiming that Chrisann is the victim in the case, her brother Kevin was quoted as saying by the portal, "We have been through emotional torture in the last 2 weeks, my sister is innocent and has been framed in a drug racket."

The family added that they haven't been able to contact Chrisann ever since she landed at the Sharjah airport "The Indian Consulate informed us after 72 hours that she's been arrested and put in Sharjah Central Jail," the source added.

Sharing the ordeal, the family said that Chrisann was scammed by a guy named Ravi, who claimed to be somebody from the talent pool team, who asked Chrisann's mother Premila Pereira if her daughter was available for an upcoming international web series.

After a few meetings, he gave her a date for an audition in Dubai, where he took care of all the arrangements. But before her flight on April 1, the accused met her at a coffee shop for 10 minutes away where he handed her a trophy, mentioning it was a part of the script and it will be required for the audition.

CHRISANN SMELLED FOUL AFTER REACHING DUBAI AS THE ACCUSED WAS NOT REACHABLE

Her family claimed that Chrisann carried the trophy along with her but smelled foul after reaching Sharjah airport as she was unable to contact the accused. On April 10, the family claims that the Consulate informed them that Chrisann was charged with drugs found in the trophy.

The report in the entertainment portal reveals that the family has now hired a lawyer in Dubai in a bid to get Chrisann out of the jail. The lawyer has cost them Rs 13 lakhs. Now, they are planning to mortgage their house to pay the fines which would be anywhere from Rs 20-40 lakhs.

The family further said that they were trying to file an FIR with the Mumbai Police, but couldn't do so as they are still awaiting the official charges from the UAE authorities.
