Meghna Gulzar is one of the most talented filmmakers in Bollywood who has given us films like Raazi, Chhapaak, Talvar etc. And now, the director has returned with her new directorial Sam Bahadur and it is creating ripples in the town. Starring Vicky Kaushal, Sanya Malhotra and Fatima Sana Shaikh in the lead, Sam Bahadur is based on the life of India's first field marshal Sam Manekshaw.
While Vicky is seen playing the titular role in the movie, the teaser and the trailer has left the fans excited and made Sam Bahadur one of the most anticipated release of the year. Interestingly, Sam Bahadur marks Vicky's second collaboration with Meghna Gulzar and the actor has been all praises for the filmmaker. As Sam Bahadur has finally hit the screens, the social media is abuzz with tweets about this Meghna Gulzar directoial. And now we bring you what the audience liked about the Vicky Kaushal starrer and what they didn't:
What's Good in Sam Bahadur?
As Vicky Kaushal has proved his mettle time and again on big screen, his performance in Sam Bahadur has won hearts. Besides, Meghna Gulzar's direction has also left everyone in awe. Taking to the micro-blogging site Twitter (now X), a Twitter user wrote, "Vicky Kaushal's performance as Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw in #SamBahadur is a masterclass in acting. No mere impersonation, but a soulful representation that leaves a lasting impact. Exceptional!" Another user tweeted, "#SamBahadur shines as a true masterpiece, with a brilliant and fantastic storyline paving the way. #VickyKaushal's One Man Army performance is nothing short of mind-blowing supremacy. Top-level direction and amazing acting make it an unforgettable cinematic journey."
What's Bad in Sam Bahadur?
On the other hand, fans were seen expressing disappointment about narration of the film. A Twitter user wrote, "#VickyKaushal shines as military icon #SamManekshaw in #SamBahadur, delivering a captivating performance amidst a lackluster narrative. The film reduces a remarkable life to disconnected episodes, missing the depth that could've elevated this biopic."
Interestingly, Sam Bahadur is facing a box office clash with Ranbi Kapoor starrer Animal which is giving this Meghna Gulzar directorial a tough competition. Talking about the clash, Vicky told Indian Express, "When two opening batsmen come to the crease, playing for the same team, you won't say that the two batsmen are clashing with each other; they are playing for a single team, so we are playing for Hindi cinema".
