Veteran Actress Seema Deo, Best Known For Anand Dies At 81, Was Suffering From Alzheimer

Seema Deo Death: Veteran Hindi and Marathi film actress Seema Deo, who was best known for her memorable roles in films like Anand, Koshish, and Kora Kagaz, passed away on August 24 in Mumbai due to age-related ailments, her son, filmmaker Abhinay Deo, said.
The actor was 81 and had acted in more than 80 films in Hindi and Marathi language. She breathed her last at her Bandra home. She had been suffering from Alzheimer's disease for the past three years.

Yesteryears actress Seema Deo breathed her last on Thursday in Mumbai. Speaking to indianexpress.com, her son, filmmaker Abhinay Deo, said, "Mom passed away earlier today. She was fine, she was suffering from Alzheimer's, but otherwise she was fine."
While talking to PTI, he said, "She passed away at 8.30-9 am at her residence in Bandra due to old age. She had been withdrawn completely, and eventually it is just old age. Alzheimer's is such a thing that you stop figuring out how to function. She had dementia leading up to Alzheimer's and she was suffering from it for over three years. "There's no specific reason (for her death)," he added.
He further said, "Due to Alzheimer's and dementia, the person forgets how to walk. The muscle memory starts coming down and one by one, the organs start shutting down,"
Her funeral will be performed at 5 pm today at Shivaji Park. Her husband, Ramesh Deo, also a veteran of Hindi and Marathi cinema, died at the age of 93 last year.
She is survived by two sons - actor Ajinkya Deo and Abhinay Deo. Ajinkya Deo has worked in films such as Sansaar, Indrajeet, and Aan: Men at Work. Abhinay Deo is a director who is known for movies such as Delhi Belly and Force.
Who was Seema Deo?
Born Nalini Saraf on January 31, 1927, in Mumbai, Seema Deo was the actress' stage name. Apart from working in Hindi cinema, she has also been part of many Marathi movies.
In Hrishikesh Mukerjee's iconic film Anand, which featured Rajesh Khanna and Amitabh Bachchan in main roles, Ramesh and Seema were seen in the roles of husband and wife, who were friends of Bachchan's character Bhaskar.
