Selfiee, starring Akshay Kumar, Emraan Hashmi, Diana Penty and Selfiee, starring Akshay Kumar, Emraan Hashmi, Diana Penty and Nusharrat Bharuccha hit the big screen on February 24. The film was intended to help Akshay Kumar revive himself at the box-office, but the opening numbers sent shock waves in the cinema industry.

Selfiee was just able to Rs 2.55 crores net in India at the box-office, which is way lesser than the conservative predictions doing the rounds ahead of the film's release. The film's advance booking got no response from the audience, and even the shows were canceled at multiple cinema halls due to no footfall. The film was the lowest opener for Akshay Kumar in over a decade.

Talking about the film, trade analyst Girish Johar had predicted a ₹4-5 crore opening for the film and said that if the audience accepts the content, the word of mouth will help the film perform better at the box-office. However, he had refused to put a number for the weekend as he said, "the dynamics at play for box office are volatile".

Now, as per a report in sacnilk, the film might earn 3.50 crores net at the box-office on its second day. The morning shows had 8.99% occupancy which is again very less.

Trade expert Atul Mohan had earlier said, "The buzz is very low, it is almost non-existent, and the advance bookings have also not been too good. The one good thing is that they have kept the ticket prices pretty low - the first-day shows are mostly priced at ₹120-140. Their plan is to increase the rates over the weekend, roughly 20% per day. The screens are also fewer, so I expect a ₹4-5 crore day-one collection. Also, if all works well, Selfiee may wrap the weekend at ₹15 crore or so."

Meanwhile, Selfiee is helmed by Raj Mehta and is an official Hindi remake of the Malayalam film Driving License. Akshay Kumar's last film, Raksha Bandhan and Samrat Prithviraj had opened on 9 crores and 10 crores respectively.
