Shah Rukh Khan, Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn Served Legal Notices By Allahabad High Court; Here's What We Know

Shah Rukh Khan, Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn Served Legal Notice

Shah Rukh Khan, Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn Served Legal Notice: Bollywood stars Shah Rukh Khan, Akshay Kumar, and Ajay Devgn have been under heavy criticism for appearing in an advertisement for the tobacco brand Vimal.

After outrage, the stars have now been served with legal notices by the Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) in response to a contempt petition, according to the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad Court.

The Deputy Solicitor General SB Pandey, informed the court that all three actors have been served notices in connection with commercials they do for gutka companies.

SRK, Ajay & Akshay served legal notices

Advocate Motilal Yadav raised concerns in his petition about Bollywood celebrities and Padma Awardees wilfully advertising products that can be harmful to consumption and health. The Deputy Solicitor General informed the bench of Justice Rajesh Singh Chauhan that show cause notices were issued to actors Shah Rukh Khan, Akshay Kumar, and Ajay Devgn on October 20.

Recently, a video commercial for Vimal featuring actors Akshay Kumar, Shah Rukh Khan, and Ajay Devgn, along with model Soundarya Sharma, invited flak from fans over such senior actors, prompting tobacco.

Following the backlash, Akshay had to clarify on social media that he had terminated the contract. On his X account, he wrote, "These ads were shot on 13th October, 2021. I have not had anything to do with the brand ever since I publicly announced the discontinuation of the endorsement. They can legally run the already shot ads till the end of next month."

Do SRK, Akshay, and Ajay Devgn promote tobacco?

Ever since the Vimal Elaichi ad went on air, Shah Rukh Khan, Akshay Kumar, and Ajay Devgn have been under fire by their fans. However, it falls under the category of mouth-freshers, as per the claims of the company.

It claimed that the product, which also contains saffron, is 100% tobacco-free and doesn't violate the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA) by hiring celebrities to endorse such products.

But many accuse the company of selling tobacco products like zarda, gutka, and khaini disguised as Vimal Elaichi.
