The Kerala Story Controversy Tamil Nadu High Alert

The Kerala Story Controversy: Directed by Sudipto Sen and starring Adah Sharma, Yogita Bihani, Sonia Balani, and Siddhi Idnani, The Kerala Story has generated considerable attention despite the absence of big names from the cast.

TAMIL NADU ON HIGH ALERT AHEAD OF THE KERALA STORY RELEASE

Ahead of its release, intelligence agencies in Tamil Nadu have issued a warning that the release of the film could lead to widespread protests in the state. The controversial film portrays the alleged brainwashing of young women into joining the Islamic State and heading off to countries like Syria and Afghanistan.

The film has ignited a political firestorm, with Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan accusing the makers of promoting the agenda of the Sangh Parivar and spreading hate propaganda against the state. Congress MP Shashi Tharoor also criticized the film for misrepresenting the state and indulging in distortion of reality.

In contrast, the BJP has supported the movie and accused the Kerala CM and ruling CPI(M) of having a selective approach to freedom of expression.

EVERYTHING ABOUT THE KERALA STORY CONTROVERSY

For the unversed, The Kerala Story has been produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah. The trailer of the film claimed that 32,000 girls from Kerala went missing and later joined the Islamic State, which has been disputed by the CPI(M) and Congress in Kerala.

They claim that the film falsely depicts the women converting, getting radicalized, and being deployed in terror missions in India and around the world. The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has granted an 'A' certificate to the film and deleted 10 scenes.

Following criticism, the trailer for The Kerala Story has been altered to feature the story of three girls instead of 32,000 women.
