EXCLUSIVE | Varun Mitra On Playing An Army Officer In Rakshak - India's Brave, Says, Ek Responsibility Thi..

Varun Mitra Rakshak - India's Brave: Actor Varun Mitra, known for playing nuanced roles in shows like Guilty Minds and Saas Bahu And Flamingo, is currently receiving high praise for his portrayal of martyred Ashok Chakra awardee Lieutenant Triveni Singh, an officer of the Indian Army, in the Amazon Mini TV movie Rakshak - India's Brave.
With his charming looks, and awe-striking performance on screen, Varun rightly gets the mannerism of an army officer. In an exclusive interview with Filmibeat, actor Varun Mitra spoke about his film Rakshak - India's Brave, and the pressure and challenges he confronted while working on the movie.
Varun Mitra on the pressure while playing Lt. Triveni Singh
Pointing out that he didn't feel any pressure but responsibility for playing a brave character like Lt. Triveni Singh, Varun said, "I would not call it pressure. I think pressure se woh thodi si ek responsibility lagti hai kyuki aap ek real insan ko portray kar rahe ho. Aur iss real insan ko unki family deknewali hoti hai, and unke liye yeh film ek memory ban jati hai. Toh pressure nahi, ek responsibility thi ki jitna hum apne taraf se kar sake, unko correct and authentic way mein portray kare.
He further added, "He was a very good human being in the true sense. I really was feeling that I should do everything in my power and my abilities to portray him authentically so that his family could also be proud, enjoy it, and just feel good about it."
Varun Mitra on the challenges he faced during the shoot of Rakshak
Sharing that this was one role in which he was not focused on his emotions, the actor said, "The character was more tuned into what others were feeling, as they thought more about others than themselves and what others needed. So, I focused less on my emotions. But jab pictures khatam hui toh bahut sare emotions aate hai, jo shoot kiya hai wo sab finally aapke ankho ke samne yese play hota hai jese movie itself, meeting his family, everything is like a wholesome experience."
Varun Mitra on the experience of playing a real-life brave hero Lt Triveni Singh
"It was extremely different from anything that I had attempted so far. And it was the first time that I was experiencing these sorts of emotions differently. Kyuki jo army wale hote hai na woh dusro ke liye jyada sochte hai. Mere grandfather bhi army mein the. I've had a lot of army people in my life. They think more about other people; maybe their training or their life makes them like that, or it sort of becomes who they are. So, to imbibe, that was important, and I think that was the most beautiful part of playing him. One got to experience a life like that."
Varun Mitra on his fond memories of celebrating Independence Day
On Republic Day, we used to always sit in the room and watch the parade; all together, it was a rule. My grandfather and father both used to really enjoy watching it. And Independence Day pe hum kabhi kabhi apne aunt ke farmhouse pe jate the aur patang udate the. It used to just be a family day more than anything else.
Talking about Rakshal - India's Brave, the three-part movie is directed by Akshay Chaubey and produced by Juggernaut. Besides Varun, it also stars Kanika Mann, Mrinal Naval, Mrinal Kulkarni, and Mohit Chauhan in key roles. It is currently streaming on Amazon Mini TV.
