Veteran Actor Sameer Khakhar, Best Known For His Doordarshan Serial Nukkad Passes Away, Know More About Him

Sameer Khakhar death: While the entertainment industry is still unable to cope with Sarish Kaushik's death, there is another sad news that has come as a blow to the industry. Veteran actor Sameer Khakhar, who shot to fame with his role as Khopri in Doordarshan's popular serial Kukkad, is no more. He was 71 and breathed his last at 4.30 am on March 15, Wednesday. Sameer has been a part of the industry for over 38 years and has done several character roles in popular films and serials.

SAMEER KHAKHAR DEATH

Veteran actor Sameer Khakhar passed away at the age of 71 in Mumbai. His younger brother, Ganesh Khakhar, confirmed the news and told Times Now, "Yesterday afternoon he was not feeling well, he was unconscious. On Tuesday (March 14), he was taken to the hospital." He was suffering from respiratory problems and also had other medical issues. Yesterday afternoon, his respiratory problems increased to the point that he was admitted to MM Hospital in Borivali, where he breathed his last. The cremation will take place today at 10.30 am and the procession will proceed to Babhai Naka Crematorium.

Let us tell you, that Sameer had taken a break from acting and had been living in the US since 1996. He was working there as a Java coder. However, he returned to India in 2008 and began working in films again. Upon returning, he did two Gujarati plays and was also seen in Salman Khan's Jai Ho.

Sameer had earlier spoken about not getting good offers. In an old interview from 2021, the actor had said, "I don't want to sound sad and say I am not satisfied with how things are at the moment. However, I am really hoping that the quantum of work I am looking for, comes my way. I am eager to get in front of the camera and can only wish to get some good offers this year."

Further, the actor added, "One cannot become a good actor by running around asking for work. I am also a little old school, and cannot sell myself. I don't understand how to market. I am sure people who know me and my work will reach out when they have something for me."

Sameer Khakhar, apart from Nukkad, has worked in a few more famous TV serials, such as 1998 Circus and Sanjivani. Khakhar was also a part of some good Bollywood movies like Hasee Toh Phasee, Jai Ho, Patel Ki Punjabi Shaadi, and others.
