Vivek
Agnihotri
Podcast:
Filmmaker
Vivek
Agnihotri
has
recently
criticized
the
content
of
recent
Bollywood
movies,
claiming
that
middle-class
audiences
cannot
relate
to
them.
He
argued
that
films
are
failing
to
attract
people
to
theaters
due
to
their
lack
of
relatability
and
their
over-exposure
and
vulgar
display
of
physical
attitude.
VIVEK
AGNIHOTRI
ON
YOUTH
IN
BOLLYWOOD
FILMS
In
a
podcast
with
filmmaker
Sudhir
Mishra,
Agnihotri
cited
the
example
of
Karan
Johar's
Student
of
the
Year
and
questioned
whether
the
youth
portrayed
in
the
movie
is
representative
of
the
youth
of
the
country.
Agnihotri
emphasized
that
the
films
being
made
these
days
do
not
cater
to
the
concerns
of
the
common
man,
unlike
Manmohan
Desai's
films,
which
addressed
the
issues
of
middle-class
people.
He
also
pointed
out
that
he
and
Kangana
Ranaut
are
the
only
ones
questioning
the
practices
of
the
Hindi
film
industry.
In
response,
Sudhir
Mishra
suggested
that
the
audience
has
become
"lazy," which
is
why
they
are
not
watching
movies
in
cinema
halls.
Agnihotri
argued
that
"Boycott
Bollywood"
is
not
fake,
and
that
the
films
being
made
these
days
do
not
address
the
real
concerns
of
the
audience.
He
also
questioned
who
the
audience
for
these
films
is,
and
whose
concerns
they
are
addressing.
VIVEK
AGNIHOTRI
TOTALLY
BOYCOTTED
IN
FILM
INDUSTRY
Agnihotri's
criticisms
have
not
been
well-received
by
the
film
industry,
and
he
claims
to
have
been
"totally
boycotted"
as
a
result.
He
has
found
solace
in
middle-class
audiences,
who,
according
to
him,
share
his
concerns.
He
also
mentioned
that
he
has
spoken
to
housewives
who
are
annoyed
with
the
over-exposure
and
vulgar
display
of
physical
attitude
in
movies.
Agnihotri's
opinions
on
the
film
industry
are
not
limited
to
social
media,
as
he
has
also
been
questioning
people
who
spoke
against
his
film,
The
Kashmir
Files.
He
believes
that
if
the
establishment
does
something
wrong,
it
is
the
right
of
intellectuals
and
liberals
to
question
it,
and
that
the
film
industry
is
no
exception.
On
the
career
front,
Vivek
is
currently
busy
working
on
his
two
projects
-
The
Vaccine
War
and
The
Dekhi
Files.
