Yami Gautam Opens Up On How People Were Hesitant On Her Doing A Comedy Film

Yami Gautam Dhar, a renowned actress in the film industry, has had two very remarkable years; 2022 and 2023, delivering a series of outstanding performances that have solidified her position as a quality actor! Since her debut film, Yami Gautam has consistently captivated audiences with her exceptional acting skills. Her ability to connect with the masses through her comedic roles is a testament to her versatile talent. While she has appeared in several comedy films throughout her impressive career, it was her role in the 2019 release 'Bala' which she did right after a film like URI, which surely opened up to good box office numbers that left an enduring impression on millions!

Recently, as she appeared in an interview, she opened up on people's reaction to her doing comedy films. Throwing light on the same, Yami said, "URI ke baad, ussi saal 'Bala' ek aur film thi, jaha mujhe laga ki woh kirdaar bohot dilchasp hai, comedy hai.. mujhe nahi lagta humare desh mein, actresses ko bohot comedy karne ka mauka milta hai.. Manorama is one of my fav actresses, Sridevi is one of my fav actresses. I think bohot kam actresses jinko acchi jo comedy hai unko karne dete hai toh jab yeh mauka mere paas aaya... i was like mujhe yeh definitely karna hai. Aur.. Jab yeh role mujhe mila.. Uske milne ke baad mein kaafi logo ne bataya.. humne amar ko bola tha ki are you sure aapko yami ko lena hai? woh toh bohot serious dikhti hai.. again! kyuki i don't hang around so much. main bohot jagah logo se nahi milti hu.. shayad i don't know logo ka serious se kya matlab hai! But thanks to Amar. He was sure I would do this. Most memorable role of my career!"

This translates to, "the same year after URI, I read another script which turned out to be a comedy film, URI.. and I felt I must do this because alot of actresses don't really get the opportunity to play comical roles. Few of my favourite actresses is Manorama and Sridevi. So yes, very few actresses get to do comedy and after receiving the role, alot of people told me how they felt about this. They happened to tell Amar.. Are you sure you want to cast Yami? She looks like quite the serious type.. and this is maybe because I dont hang around enough or something.. God knows. But thanks to Amar. He was very sure I would do this. Most memorable role of my career!"
