Recently, during an interview with Indian Express, Yami opened up on suggestions that she received from people for going under the knife. The actress believes that changing physical appearance should be a personal choice and not a professional mandate to survive in the industry and gain more work. During the interview, the actress revealed that she was advised to go under the knife but she is glad as she did not pay heed to it. She was quoted as saying, "I was advised to get a nose job! There are so many advice floating around (this was one of them)."

As Yami spoke, Sunny Kaushal, who was her co-star in Chor Nikal Ke Bhaga also opened up on how he too was asked to get a nose job done. He revealed that someone once told him that he should do something about his nose as it looks like 'pakora'. He said that he had refused to do so.

Yami said that she was baffled at how badly people want to fit everyone to a set beauty standard and she feels that the toxic cycle of suggesting someone change their physical appearance needs to stop.

She says that going under the knife or not should be one's personal choice. "I mean, it is a personal choice, to each his own, I am no one to comment on anybody else. But I feel it is not right if you want to do something, that should be your choice. It shouldn't be coming from anyone, that, 'Oh, this is what you need to do so then you will get cast or look better.' I don't agree with all those things," Yami added.
