Today marks the celebration of the 70th National Film Awards in Delhi, an occasion that sees the gathering of celebrities and the best in the film industry at Vigyan Bhawan. Among the attendees is Manoj Bajpayee, who is not just a guest but a winner, set to receive his fourth National Award for his role in the film "Gulmohar." This film, under the direction of Rahul V. Chittella, not only showcases a family's last reunion in their ancestral home but has also clinched three awards including Best Feature Film in Hindi, Best Screenplay (Dialogues), and a Special Mention.
Manoj Bajpayee's enthusiasm for his fourth win at such a prestigious platform radiates through his recent video message. He recounts his journey, reflecting on times of doubt and how the hope of receiving a National Award once seemed like a distant dream. "When I got it three times, even then my reaction was the same on getting the news of National Award as it is for the fourth time. When I was feeling hopeless, I used to think that if I got this once, my life would become blessed. And today by the grace of the Almighty, I have got it for the fourth time for Gulmohar. So I consider myself a very lucky artist who is getting a National Award for the fourth time."
Adding to the significance of this win is the presence of Bajpayee's wife at the awards ceremony, marking her first attendance. Her presence makes this occasion particularly special for Bajpayee, as he reminisces about previous wins where she couldn't join him. This personal milestone is celebrated amidst the grandeur of the awards, which are being presented by President Droupadi Murmu.
As the event unfolds at 3 PM, the anticipation and excitement among the attendees are palpable. "Gulmohar," with its compelling narrative and exceptional cast, led by the talents of Manoj Bajpayee and Sharmila Tagore, has already made its mark by securing three honors. This recognition is not just a testament to the film's excellence but also highlights the prowess and resilience of artists like Bajpayee, who continue to inspire and captivate audiences with their performances.
