Exclusive! Amit Sadh On Parineeti Chopra's 'Favouritism In Bollywood' Comment: I Really Don’t Understand It

Nepotism and favouritism are integral parts of Bollywood. While many outsiders have claimed that nepotism still exists in Bollywood, Parineeti Chopra made headlines when she stated that while nepotism may or may not exist in Bollywood, the industry certainly has a significant amount of favouritism. Amit Sadh, who has been part of many notable projects over the years, recently mentioned in an interview that he has not found the level of acceptance from the industry that he had hoped for. In an exclusive conversation with FilmiBeat, we asked Amit if he, too, is affected by Bollywood's nepotism and if, like Parineeti, he agrees that favouritism is prevalent in the industry.
Amit Sadh DISAGREES With Parineeti Chopra
When reminded of Parineeti Chopra's recent statement that a section of Bollywood operates on favoritism and asked if he has ever been affected by favoritism and nepotism, Amit responded: "I came to Mumbai with just 300 rupees, and today I have been part of films, TV shows, and OTT projects. Do you think anything bad has happened to me? These are all rubbish. I am not talking about anybody. I respect Parineeti and everyone's view. But I really don't understand all this. My films are coming. I am getting good work. Even if tomorrow I become the biggest superstar, I would still have some complaints, and then I would pinch myself and say, 'Bhai, don't complain and just focus on positives. And of course, on the days when you are down, get yourself up, and remember there is always tomorrow.'"
The actor further added, "I would not be here without the people who have supported me. There have been directors who have written roles for me, and people who have said, 'You have a compulsory part in my project.' All this-this health and that health-it has all happened now. In fact, I believe that because of various platforms, it's a bit easier today. If you're at home and work is not coming your way, don't sit idle. Work on your skills, retrospect where you are lacking, and focus on what you should do. There's absolutely no point in complaining. Instead of focusing on who didn't give you work, focus on who has supported you. Be grateful."
Parineeti Chopra made headlines when during Chamkila's promotions she stated that while nepotism may or may not exist in Bollywood, the industry certainly has significant favouritism. The Chamkila actress, who is the cousin of Bollywood's biggest female superstar Priyanka Chopra, mentioned that even after having a film connection, she has been left out or not considered for projects because she has never been part of elite Bollywood groups or big Bollywood parties where films are discussed and actors are often considered for particular roles. Amit Sadh recently stated that even after so many years of work, he has not yet received the level of acceptance he desired from the industry and has also felt lonely in the industry.
