AR Rahman-Saira Banu Divorce Reason: In a shocking turn of events, Oscar-winning music composer AR Rahman and his wife Saira Banu are getting separated after nearly 3 decades of marriage. For those unversed, the music composer-singer AR Rahman had tied the knot with Saira Banu in March 1995. The couple has been blessed with three children - Raheema, Khatija and AR Ameen.

On Tuesday night (November 19), Oscar-winning music composer AR Rahman's now-ex wife Saira Banu has announced separation after 29 years of marriage. According to India Today, Saira's lawyer issued an official statement about the same.

In the statement, it has been revealed that the couple has "found that the tensions and difficulties have created an insurmountable gap between them, one that neither party feels able to bridge at this time."

"After many years of marriage, Mrs. Saira has made the difficult decision to separate from her husband Mr. A R. Rahman. This decision comes after significant emotional strain in their relationship. Despite their deep love for each other, the couple has found that the tensions and difficulties have created an insurmountable gap between them, one that neither party feels able to bridge at this time. Mrs. Saira emphasised that she has taken this decision out of pain and agony. Mrs Saira requests privacy and understanding from the public during this challenging time, as she navigates this difficult chapter in her life," the official statement reportedly read.
