AR Rahman-Saira Banu Separation Reason: Music composer AR Rahman's wife Saira Banu's team issued a statement on Tuesday (November 19) to announce their separation. The couple has parted ways after 29 years of marriage. The news set several tongues wagging.

WHY AR RAHMAN, WIFE SAIRA BANU ANNOUNCED THEIR SEPARATION?

Terming the decision 'difficult', Saira Banu stated her in statement that 'tension' and 'difficulties' created an 'insurmountable gap' between them. She added that she took the decision out of 'pain and agony'.

"After many years of marriage, Mrs Saira has made the difficult decision to separate from her husband Mr. AR Rahman. This decision comes after significant emotional strain in their relationship. Despite their deep love for each other, the couple has found that the tensions and difficulties have created an insurmountable gap between them, one that neither party feels able to bridge at this time. Mrs Saira emphasised that she has taken this decision out of pain and agony. Mrs Saira requests privacy and understanding from the public during this challenging time, as she navigates this difficult chapter in her life," the statement read as quoted as saying by India Today.

AR RAHMAN'S FIRST PUBLIC REACTION ON SEPARATION: MUSIC COMPOSER STAYS QUIET

Prominent divorce lawyer Vandana Shah released the official separation statement on behalf of the couple. While Banu announced the split first, the estranged couple later released a joint statement. AR Rahman is yet to make a public comment about his separation. Both Banu and Rahman have not commented about the 'divorce' part in their statement.

AR RAHMAN'S SON AMEEN REACTS TO PARENTS' SEPARATION

Saira Banu and AR Rahman got married in 1995. They announced their separation after being together for close to 3 decades. They are parents to three children - Khatija, Raheema, and son AR Ameen.

Ameen shared a post after his parents announced their separation, requesting everyone to respect their privacy. "We kindly request everyone to respect our privacy during this time. Thank you for your understanding," he said on social media.

AR Rahman is one of the most celebrated music composers in India. The talented musician has been bestowed with several awards including Oscar and Grammy.
