Arjun Kapoor Opens Up On His Bond With Sister Janhvi Kapoor: I Feel The Most Myself

After Sridevi's death, the Kapoor siblings—Arjun, Anshula, Janhvi, and Khushi—formed a strong bond through shared grief, showcasing the resilience of familial ties.

After the unfortunate demise of Sridevi in 2018, a significant change occurred in the Kapoor family dynamics. Arjun Kapoor, along with his sister Anshula, found a newfound closeness with their half-sisters, Janhvi and Khushi Kapoor. The shared tragedy of losing their loved one brought them together, fostering a deep connection rooted in mutual grief and vulnerability. This unexpected turn of events led to the strengthening of their familial bonds, showcasing how adversity can sometimes bring people closer.

In his conversation with Raj Shamani on his podcast, Arjun Kapoor opened up about the emotional journey he underwent with his sisters. He revealed, "I think I am the most vulnerable with my sisters, which is a good thing. Because when I got connected with Janhvi and Khushi, the circumstances that were there, there was nothing left. We were at the lowest in terms of… Me and Anshula had experienced something, then Janhvi and Khushi were going through something that we wouldn't wish for our worst enemies and it happened in our house. So we started with being vulnerable."

The children of Boney Kapoor from his marriages to Mona Kapoor and later, Sridevi, had experienced their fair share of familial strife. Before Sridevi’s passing, Arjun and Anshula, Mona Kapoor's children, had a somewhat estranged relationship with their father. However, the loss of Sridevi acted as a catalyst, bringing the siblings closer not only to each other but also to their father. Arjun, reflecting on the altered dynamics, shared how these relationships evolved, emphasizing the comfort and authenticity he finds in his conversations with Janhvi and Khushi. He said, "Now when I talk to Janhvi, Khushi and Anshula, I feel the most myself with them, it's a strange thing. I have spoken about such things with Janhvi that I never even confessed to my own self. And she is wise also, so she understands. I share everything with Anshula. When I don't say something, she comes and sits with me and I just naturally start speaking. I am very blessed that my sisters have allowed me to be open."

Mona Kapoor, Boney Kapoor’s first wife, succumbed to cancer in 2012. Boney's marriage to Sridevi brought Janhvi and Khushi into the family. Despite the earlier distance between them, Arjun and Anshula extended their support to their father and half-sisters during the heartbreaking period following Sridevi's death. This gesture of solidarity was a testament to the strength and resilience of familial bonds, highlighting how personal loss served as the impetus for reconciliation and unity within the Kapoor family.

The passing of Sridevi marked a turning point for the Kapoor siblings, transforming their relationships in ways they hadn’t anticipated. The shared experience of loss and mourning led them to discover a sense of closeness and understanding that had been missing before. Through their journey of healing and coming together as a family, they have demonstrated the power of love and support in the face of adversity.
