Kartik Aaryan On Getting Bitter During Early Days

Men are often perceived as not expressing their emotions, but how frequently do we offer them a platform to share their feelings? Yuvaa's Positive Masculinity show, 'Be A Man, Yaar!' provides such a space for men to be vulnerable and have open conversations. After a successful first season, Media Entrepreneur and Co-Founder of Yuvaa, Nikhil Taneja returns with season 2. The first episode features actor Kartik Aaryan discussing his struggles during auditions and the rejections he faced.

During the chat with Nikhil, Kartik Aaryan shared his feelings about facing rejection after movie auditions. He said, "It was very harsh. It's like you don't exist. Lagta tha ki aapki koi value hai nahi." The fear of being deemed "unfit" led to frustration with the audition process. When asked what kept him going despite rejections, he mentioned that the "rare" love from his audience sustained him. "My loneliness has been compensated by my fans," he added.

Challenges in the Film Industry

Kartik also reflected on becoming "bitter" during his early days in the film industry due to the difficulty outsiders face in getting noticed. He remarked, "Main line mein laga hoon aur dusro ko line mein lagne ki zarurat bhi nahi padh rahi…" This added to his frustration as he observed others having an easier path. He quipped, "Wahan chai pi rahe hain jahan main auditions de raha hoon. There was never an even playing field. Aur wo toh aaj bhi rehta hai."

In their discussion about Kartik's challenging experiences, Nikhil Taneja asked about his initial heartbreaks. Kartik recalled, "My first heartbreak was in school. I couldn't muster the courage to express my feelings; I simply smiled at her." However, his most profound heartbreak occurred during college when his girlfriend told him she couldn't be with him if he pursued acting because she couldn't handle an actor's life.

Personal Struggles and Triumphs

Amidst these tough conversations on 'Be A Man, Yaar' season 2, Kartik also shared fond memories with his family and praised his sister for maturely handling his success. He discussed challenges faced during his early years as an actor and opened up about his mother's cancer battle, which marked his darkest phase. Reflecting on emotional moments in his journey, he recalled crying a lot and particularly remembered the first day people recognized him by name after 'Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety'.

Kartik also addressed discussions around misogyny in his monologues from 'Pyaar Ka Punchnama'. He stated that if the script is good, he would still do a 'Pyaar Ka Punchnama 3' today.

The first episode of #BeAManYaar with Nikhil Taneja is available on Yuvaa's YouTube channel. The show is powered by The Man Company. Extended unfiltered episodes can also be listened to on Amazon Music.
