Exclusive! Bharat Goel On Comparison With Yashraj Mukhate, "I Look Up To Him A Lot"

Bharat Goel is a music composer and Instagram is filled with a lot of reels in which he has given many songs his own touch. Recently, he gave a twist to the songs of Amar Singh Chamkila, and the videos have gone viral on social media. The interesting element in his reels is that he gives his twist to the songs by taking snippets of the singers' interviews.

Filmibeat recently interacted with him, and spoke him about his reels, how he got this idea, comparison with other such creators and more...

What response are you getting for your rendition of Amar Singh Chamkila's songs?

It's been a wonderful response. The songs of the film are very good and I am a very big fan of Rahman sir. The songs are very authentic, so I decided to give my twist to it.

When did you get this idea of giving songs your own twist?

A lot of times, when I sit and watch content online, music starts playing in my mind. When I am watching interviews of the singers, it is so impressive that they are so well-trained that even when they are singing candidly they are so in pitch and timing, so there has to be a music behind this. That is one inspiration, and the other thing is that it gives me an opportunity to present the song in my own flavour.

But, has this helped you in your career, like any filmmakers or singers or actors have approached you to make original music for them?

Yes absolutely! I have actually done a lot of collaboration deals with production houses, music labels, and even independent artists have approached me. The whole idea of doing these reels wasn't very a commercial idea, it was more about showcasing and putting out my own versions to the world. But, after that a lot of opportunities opened up.

On Instagram, there are many artists who make such reels by giving their own twists like Yashraj Mukhate, he makes songs out of dialogues. So, was there anywhere a pressure of comparison with other artists on Instagram?

No, I think every creator has their own signature and style. I look up to Yashraj Mukhate a lot. What he has done is that he has now given music producers a platform to showcase their talent. Earlier, in the limelight there used to be only singers and actors, and music producers, writers, and engineers used to come behind the scene. But now, because of social media, Instagram, and people like Yashraj, audiences are also interested in the behind the scenes, in the production process. So, instead of competition, I look at it more as a collaborative thing because as I said everyone has their own style.

So, which are the coming songs that you are planning to give your twist to?

There are a couple very cool and interesting collaborations lined up, both originals as well as reels. But, what I can you tell is that I am getting a lot of request for Sunidhi ji (Chauhan), so I am actually working something on it.
