In her introduction clip, Smriti was heard talking about her interest in politics. "India, being a cauldron of culture and religions, it is of great interest to me... therefore, it goes without saying that I'm very interested in politics," she says in her viral throwback clip.
Smriti Irani soon became a household name after she made her acting debut as 'Tulsi Irani' in Ektaa's Kyun's popular TV serial, 'Kyunki... Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi' in 2001.
Smriti Irani Reveals Why She Participated In Miss India 1998
During an interview with Curly Tales, the actress-politician confessed that she'd decided to participate in the beauty pageant to hone her oratory skills.
Talking about it, she revealed, "I did enter Miss India contest because there was an opportunity to converse, to speak. It was not only about looking good, it was also about the presentation of the self. I thought that if someone questioned me on stage, I would respond with such a mind-blowing answer that I would fetch the crown. But I was wrong."
