Cannes 2024: For those who don't know Prateik Patil Babbar, Ekk Deewana Tha actor, is son of late actress Smita Patil and Raj Babbar. And, the actor's mother Smita Patil will be honored at 77th Cannes Film Festival as the event will screen her movie, Manthan. Also, Prateik will be making his debut at Cannes' red carpet this year. Ahead of his appearance at the red carpet, the actor reacts on how much of a proud moment it is for him to see his mother's movie screening at the biggest film festival. Prateik claims that the moment is "extremely symbolic" for him. Let us further see what else he has to say about his mother.

Prateik Patil Babbar Reacts On Mother Smita Patil's Movie Screening At Cannes 2024

Smita Patel's 1976 released movie Manthan will be screening under Cannes Classic section. Flying to France to watch his mother's movie at the biggest film festival globally, Prateik says, "My mother is going to be celebrated. It is a big moment for me and my family. For me specifically it is extremely symbolic. I am a very proud son." He further adds, "This moment reminds me of how amazing a woman she us and how I am lucky to be her son."

Prateik got to know about screening of Manthan a couple of days before. Thankfully his visa arrived 2 days back. He therefore left all his work on hold and booked the tickets to France. Recalling how Manthan was a crowd-funded film where each farmers pitched 2 rupees for the making of the movie, Prateik said, "I always knew about it. My grand mom and aunt used to tell me the story of the film's making. My grandfather was also a farmer , so I was always told to feel proud of my lineage." He further said, "Also, I revisit my mom's films very frequently, it's like watching FRIENDS for me- you know what's going to happen next, but you keep watching."

To note, Prateik will be making his debut at Cannes' red carpet. Prateik uploads the photo of his mother's movie Manthan saying on social media, "the legacy continues.. ♾️37 years since she left.. & yet she never ceases to blow my mind..." Recalling her mother's face, Prateik wrote, "seeing her face at the #2024 'cannes film festival' 37 years after her death.. on a #1976 film poster of her film 'manthan' restored for a world premiere in the 'cannes classics section' will be one of the most symbolic & iconic celebratory moments of my life.. & her legacy.. (for me)."
