Chandu Champion In Cinemas: Kartik Aaryan starrer Chandu Champion is finally released on June 14, 2024, which is coincidentally the death anniversary of the late actor, Sushant Singh Rajput. But do you know that the late actor has a connection with the film? Well, it is not yet known whether the makers ensured that the film got released on the day of Sushant's death anniversary. But it is indeed a tribute for SSR on his death anniversary.

It might come as a surprise to many that it was earlier Sushant Singh Rajput who approached Murlikant Petkar to make a biopic on his life story. The paralympian also revealed that the late actor also shot 10-15 percent of the film already and how passionate he was to tell the army veteran's story to the world.

"Before Kabir Khan, Sushant Singh Rajput, was making a film on my life and my journey as a Paralympian. He had already shot 10 to 15 per cent of the film. He was extremely passionate about telling my story and spent a lot of time with me to understand how I managed to win all those gold medals despite getting shot nine times and being in a coma," says Murlikant Petkar to Indian Express.

If speculations are believed to be true, SSR shot for the biopic in 2019 before COVID happened for which the project couldn't be completed. He passed away in June after lockdown was imposed in March, 2020. Later, Kabir Khan found out about it in a newspaper and decided to make a film on the same.

This was not the first attempt of Sushant Singh Rajput for a biopic. He has earlier played the role of Mahendra Singh Dhoni in his biopic, Dhoni. In one of his interviews with Bollywood Hungama, the late actor said about making the Murlikant Petkar biopic, "The minute I heard his story I was on. I wanted to do it without a second thought. What an inspiring story! After playing Dhoni, I'm looking forward to playing Petkar who never allowed his physical hurdles to stand in the way of his dreams. I like playing characters who dream big."
