Diljit Dosanjh Faces Legal Notice Over Alleged Ticket Price Manipulation For Dil-luminati India Tour

Diljit Dosanjh's upcoming Dil-Luminati Tour is set to be a grand 10-city event, starting at Delhi's Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on October 26, 2024. The tour will then proceed to Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Pune, Kolkata, Bangalore, Indore, Chandigarh, and Guwahati. Tickets for the Delhi show were quickly snapped up after their release, with prices starting at Rs 19,999 for the Fan Pit and Rs 12,999 for Gold (Phase 3).

Legal Notice Sent Over Ticket Sales

A fan named Riddhima Kapoor has sent a legal notice to Diljit Dosanjh regarding ticket sales for his tour. Riddhima, a law student from Delhi, expressed her disappointment over not securing a ticket. She accused the organisers of unfair practices in the ticketing process. Her notice also targets Zomato, HDFC Bank, and Saregama Pvt Ltd.

In her complaint, Riddhima alleged that tickets were available before the announced time of September 12 at 1 pm. She claimed they were accessible by 12:59 pm. This discrepancy allowed many fans to book tickets within seconds. Despite obtaining an HDFC Credit Card specifically for early-bird access, she was unable to purchase a ticket.

Allegations of Unfair Practices

Riddhima's legal notice accuses the organisers of manipulating ticket availability and prices. She believes these actions violate consumer rights under the Consumer Protection Act of 2019. "This abrupt and suspicious transaction strongly suggests manipulation and scalping practices," she stated in her notice.

The fan further alleged that tickets were being hoarded and resold at inflated prices. Such practices are seen as acts of bad faith and unfair trade under consumer protection laws. As of now, there has been no response from Zomato, HDFC Bank or Saregama Pvt Ltd regarding these allegations.
