On Sunday morning, popular TV serial actor Rupali Ganguly offered prayers at the famous Mahakaleshwar Temple in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh. The actress also attended the 'Bhasma Aarti' at the temple and sought blessings from Baba Mahakal (Lord Shiva). Talking to news agency ANI, Rupali said, "I came here for the first time in 2020 and when I sat in the main temple, I got a call for Anupamaa. So it was a kind of blessing. Since then I always come here whenever I feel like it. Today's puja is so sacred that I am in tears. Jai Mahakal." 'Bhasma aarti' (offering with ashes) is performed during the 'Brahma Muhurta' between around 3:30 and 5:30 in the morning.

Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar on Sunday strongly reacted to the derogatory comments against India that were made by a minister of the island nation of the Maldives. The unsavoury comments of the minister have gone viral on social media, stirring a massive boycott call against the island country. Joining the row, actor Akshay Kumar took to his X handle on Sunday and shared his reaction with screenshots of some of the comments made against India. He wrote, “Came across comments from prominent public figures from Maldives passing hateful and racist comments on Indians. Surprised that they are doing this to a country that sends them the maximum number of tourists. We are good to our neighbors but why should we tolerate such unprovoked hate? I’ve visited the Maldives many times and always praised it, but dignity first. Let us decide to #ExploreIndianIslands and support our own tourism.” Maldives minister Abdulla Mahzoom Majid claimed that India cannot beat the Maldives in beach tourism after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Lakshadweep.

Days after Javed Akhtar took a swipe at "Animal," the team of the Ranbir Kapoor-starrer on Sunday clapped back at the veteran lyricist-writer, asking to "let love be free from the politics of gender." Akhtar recently said the commercial success of films with problematic scenes was a "dangerous" trend. While he didn't mention the name of "Animal", the screenwriter cited the example of the film's controversial bootlicking scene featuring Ranbir and Triptii Dimri, who play Ranvijay and Zoya. In response, the "Animal" team on X tagged Akhtar and wrote: "Writer of your calibre cannot understand the betrayal of a lover (Between Zoya & Ranvijay) then all your art form is big FALSE... Let love be free from the politics of gender...If a woman (betrayed and fooled by a man in the name of love) would have said 'lick my shoe' then you guys would have celebrated it by calling it feminism... Let's just call them lovers. LOVER cheated and lied. LOVER said lick my shoe. Period @Javedakhtarjadu," the post read. At the 9th Ajanta Ellora International Film Festival in Aurangabad last week, Akhtar expressed his concerns about the current state of cinema. "I believe it's a testing time for the young filmmakers today as to what kind of characters they want to create that society will applaud. For instance, if there's a film in which a man asks a woman to lick his shoe or if a man says it's okay to slap a woman, and if the film is a super-duper hit, then that's very dangerous," Akhtar said.

"Salaar: Part 1 - Ceasefire" is scheduled to hit Japanese theatres this summer, the makers have announced. Directed by Prashanth Neel and produced by Hombale Films, the movie will be released in the island country by Japanese film distribution company Twin. "#SalaarCeaseFire is coming to theatres across Japan this Summer. Release by @movietwin2," the makers said on the official X page of "Salaar" on Saturday. It will also be released in Latin America in Spanish on March 7. Starring Prabhas and Prithviraj Sukumaran in the lead, "Salaar: Part 1 - Ceasefire" released in Telugu, Kannada, Tamil, Malayalam, and Hindi on December 22 and stars Prabhas, Prithviraj Sukumaran, Shruti Haasan, Eshwari Rao, Jagapathi Babu, and Sriya Reddy.
