Shruti Haasan is set to headline Chennai Story, a ground-breaking Indo-UK co-production backed by the British Film Institute's (BFI) UK Global Screen Fund. Chennai Story is the first Indian film project to be included in the funding awards instituted by the British Film Institute, thus establishing a new benchmark for global collaborations with India. The movie, which is co-produced by Guru Films (India), Ripple World Pictures (UK), and ie Productions (Wales) aims to be made under the bilateral UK-India Co-production Treaty. In 2023, Chennai Story was the sole Indian project to be included by the BFI for funding through its UK Global Screen Fund, which was launched in April 2021 to boost global opportunities for the UK’s independent screen sector. This is the first time the fund has supported a collaboration with India. Written and directed by BAFTA winner Philip John and co-written by Nimmi Harasgama, Chennai Story is an English film interspersed with Tamil and Welsh, exploring themes of love, self-expression, and acceptance. This international film will have BAFTA-winning Graham Frake as the cinematographer, while Ciaran Thompson is the production designer.

Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon’s upcoming movie, Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya’s second song, Akhiyaan Gulaab, is a romantic track that shows Shahid and Kriti grooving to Western beats. The film is directed by Amit Joshi and Aradhana Sah and is slated to release on February 9.

Bollywood studio T-Series on Wednesdayshared the first look of filmmaker Bejoy Nambiar's upcoming Hindi-Tamil feature film. The studio shared the posters of the film, titled "Dange" in Hindi and "Por" in Tamil, in a post on Instagram. "#Dange loading!! Get ready to pick a side. #Por," T-Series posted. The Hindi version of the film will feature Harshvardhan Rane and Ehan Bhatt in the lead roles, with Nikita Dutta and TJ Bhanu in supporting parts. Whereas, the Tamil version is headlined by "Master" actor Arjun Das and Kalidas Jayram of "Poomaram" fame. TJ Bhanu will also appear in the Tamil version alongside Sanchana Natarajan.

The streaming service shared the news of the show's season two in a letter to its shareholders Tuesday. Directed by Hwang Dong-hyuk, the survival drama revolves around hundreds of cash-strapped contestants who accept an invitation to compete in children’s games for a tempting prize of 45.6 billion won, or USD 38.3 million, but the stakes are deadly. The second season will see Lee Jung-jae and Lee Byung-hun return as Seong Gi-hun and Front Man, respectively. The cast also includes Yim Si-wan, Kang Ha-Neul, Park Sung-hoon, and Yang Dong-geun, as well as Park Gyu-young, Jo Yu-ri, Kang Ae-sim, Lee David, Lee Jin-uk, Choi Seung-hyun, Roh Jae-won, and Won Ji-an.

To Kill a Tiger, set in a small Indian village, was nominated for the best documentary feature at the 2024 Academy Awards on Tuesday. A Canadian production, "To Kill a Tiger," is directed by Delhi-born Nisha Pahuja, an Emmy-nominated filmmaker based in Toronto. It had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival 2022, where it won the Amplify Voices Award for Best Canadian Feature Film. The film follows Ranjit's uphill battle to find justice for his 13-year-old daughter, who was abducted and later sexually assaulted by three men. The film is produced by Cornelia Principe and David Oppenheim. Other four nominees in the best Oscar for documentary feature include "Bobi Wine: The People's President," "The Eternal Memory," "Four Daughters," and "20 Days in Mariupol." The 96th annual Academy Awards will be held on March 10 at the Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood in Los Angeles.

Siddharth Anand’s Fighter has been banned in Gulf countries except the UAE. The film failed to get clearance from the GCC censors. The reason behind it has not been disclosed yet. As per Girish Johar, film business expert and producer, Fighter has been denied release in all GCC nations. Sharing the news, he tweeted, “In a setback, #Fighter officially banned across Middle East regions for theatrical release. Only UAE will release the film with PG15 classification!” Fighter is scheduled to release tomorrow, January 25.
