Taran Singh Shares Details About His Character In Debut Film Munjya: It's a dream debut for content creator cum the 'Water Boy' for IPL team Rajasthan Royals, Taran Singh. The Punjabi munda makes his Bollywood debut in Maddock Films' Friday film 'Munjya'. Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, Munjya stars Sharvari, Abhay Verma, Mona Singh and Taran Singh among others. Amid much anticipation, Munjya - based on the supernatural creature of the same name common in Maharashtrian folklore - hits cinemas today (June 7).

Taran Singh On How His Bollywood Debut With Munjya Happened

While speaking to us, Taran Singh revealed that he was actually gearing up to apply for an AD (assistant director) intern's position for 'Munjya', but destiny had some other plans and he ended up bagging his debut role in the film. Explaining the incident, he said, "From very early on, I have been interested in learning the art of making content, inquisitive about what goes behind making a movie, always trying to understand the basics of how YouTube and Instagram videos were made, how different production houses work etc. As soon as I finished college in Ambala, my hometown, I decided to come to Mumbai and started working with TVF. At that time, I learnt that Maddock is working on a movie called Munjya and they were looking for an AD intern. I tried to get in touch with the team, but then COVID hit, and the entire project was put on hold. So, I returned to my hometown and decided to use this time to learn the skill of making videos and developing my own content."

He further continued, "With time and my followers' appreciation, I started posting more and this motivated me even more to do better and put together different content to engage people and give them a little bit of happiness/entertainment during the difficult pandemic times. After COVID, Casting Bay team reached out after seeing my Instagram videos offering me the role in the same movie I was considering working on as an intern. After a couple of audition rounds, I was selected for the role and I can't begin to explain what I felt at that moment, super excited and I was just at a loss for words. You know how they say life comes a full circle, and I knew this was exactly my moment. "

Taran Singh On His Character In Munjya

Taran, who is making his Bollywood debut with 'Munjya', plays the role of Spielberg, the best friend of Bittu (played by Abhay Verma). Talking about his character, he shared, "My character in the movie is called Spielberg, I am Bittu's best friend, played by Abhay Verma. The plot revolves around how Munjya is troubling Bittu and Spielberg trying to help his best friend. But the funny part is, when Munjya also starts bothering Spielberg. That is all I can reveal without any spoilers. It is going to be interesting for the audience to see how the story unfolds this Friday, June 7."

"I cannot wait for my followers/audience to go watch me on the big screen. I have auditioned for a few roles in the past, but I have always said that content creation is my first priority. So, I wanted to take up a project only when I was confident about the opportunity as I knew that videos would then take a backseat due to the hours I would have to put into the movies," he further added.
