Fighter Director Siddharth Anand Defends His Movie;Gets Trolled As He Says 90% People Have Not Been To Airport

Siddharth Anand's Fighter starring Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone have failed to make a mark at the box office. The movie in eight days has collected Rs. 146.50 crore which is less for a film which is mounted on a huge scale. Fighter took a decent start and showed a jump on Republic Day, and was stable on Saturday and Sunday. However, the film crashed at the box office on Monday, and then the collection has been going down.
Recently, Siddharth Anand in an interview spoke about why his film didn't take a flying start at the box office, and during the interaction, he gave a statement for which he is getting trolled on social media. He said, "If you realise, there's a huge percentage of our country; I would say 90%, who have not flown in planes and have not been to airports. So, how do you expect them to know what's happening in the air? It's my dissection, so they felt that this is a little alien."
"How many percentage of our population has a passport and how many of them have actually travelled in a plane? So, when you are talking about plane's action, they have not understood what is the acceleration they are supposed to feel in the action. What is supposed to happen?," the filmmaker added.
Well, he is getting brutally trolled for his statement. An X user wrote, "Fighter movie's director says his film didn't do well because 90% of Indians hasn't experienced airports or air travel, so they couldn't relate to his film. Oppenheimer worked because 90% of Indians are into nuclear physics, Ek Tha Tiger worked because 90% of Indians are RAW agents. Jurassic Park worked because 90% of Indians keep dinosaurs as pets. Avatar worked because 90% of Indians live underwater after painting themselves blue." Check the tweets below...
While Fighter has not done well at the box office in its first week, it will be interesting to see whether it will be able to show a jump at the box office during its second weekend or not.
For now, it looks like the movie might end it's theatrical run with a collection of less than Rs. 200 crore at the box office in India.
